    BF2 Website for Beginners/Newbies - Worth It?

I have been playing BF2 - AF, SF, for about a month now. Before that was BF1942. And I am still a beginner. I have found a lot of sites out there with forums, guides, clan lists, the resources seem endless. But I haven't really found a site dedicated to Newbies.

I am thinking of starting up a site that is specifically designed just for newbies. I have a few friends that are experienced at BF2 who will help. And I know that most experienced players would encourage beginners to learn and practice as much as us newbies would. If you have suggestions about what should be there from beginners to the most experienced, pse let me know thanks.

Of course if you think this would be just a big waste of time (ie there are already a million of those out there) let me know too. Then let me know where they are.

    Tks

Find information, resources and relevant links for secretsofbattlefield.com. This domain may be for sale.

I dont think you should bother. Most of the important information is there.

I suppose you could take a different approach with a sortof wiki of submitted strats. i dunno.

If you think you have something unique, better, or beneficial to alot of players you should do it.

All you really need to do is use the search button on any BF2 forum. You can find enough reading material to keep you busy for days. Problem is, too many people neglect the older posts and think they are going to get some new mystery/secret information if they post the same question again for the 200th time.
This site has a load of info in it, the search button should be everyones friend...

I understand. What I thought was to maybe try and find something that is missing.

For example, something I haven't seen are clan reviews. (maybe haven't look carefully enough). I have been searching for a clan that really uses squads and voip really well. I have found a couple; but others were just terrible, there ranked but everyone is a lone wolf and running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

If there was a site that could tell me to maybe join this or that clan because they are really good and know what they are doing that would be great. Of course it should be unbiased.

As well maybe set up a sort of mentoring program where a beginner could find a more experienced user to team up with. Then the newbie could learn from this guy specifically by joining in games/servers together and then afterwords sort of have a debrief of what went wrong/right suggestions etc. something like a smacktards anonymous (lol) :)

Plus have articles that might poke fun at newbies while learning. Like the following article from Rich "Lowtax" Kyanka at Something Awful" called "Guide:Mastering Battlefield 2" at:

Those are interesting ideas there. I like the idea of a more experienced player helping out a newb. You could maybe even host a newbie crash course on an unranked server that members of your forums could join. Kind of a basic training type thing. This training could cover all sorts of strategy in a pretty short time period I would think.

After basic, you could also offer more advanced training, say on each kit. Like a spec ops field training day, medic training, and the like.

Flight school would be a must as well. Basic would cover the easy stuff with flying, but the flight school could cover maneuvering, dogfighting, bombing, TV guided, and other good stuff.

As a part of all this training, you could actually develop training manuals or whatever that all of your "teachers" would follow. These manuals would also be available on the website as "strategy" guides in and of themselves. Maybe you need to start your own clan that caters to new players as a part of all this. This would of course probably not be a competitive clan, but a just for fun/learning clan. Good luck with this, it's a great idea. If you want any help developing shoot me a PM....

The training and guides are something that we've been working on at TacticalGamer. We currently have a pretty decent "library" on our Wiki that is filled with guides written by people on our forums. It's aimed towards play on our servers vs the everyday ranked server, but I imagine that most of it would be applicable to the ranked servers as well.

We've also run some "Tactical Minicamps" in the past that have been open to anyone in our community, and we're trying to get those off the ground again as well. One of our in-house squads has also been running practices that cover some basic tactics and such every couple weeks -- they're definitely not the typical "strats" that most clans will practice, but more on the level of real-life tactics. Definitely worth checking out, either if you want to learn or want to teach!

Re: BF2 Website for Beginners/Newbies - Worth It?

What I'd like to see is a group dedicated to multiplayer bf2 games for beginners. I have a wife, run my own business and all kinds of other things going on, so I don't have as much time to get really good at games anymore.

It would be great to play with people that can only dedicate a few hours a week to the game. It's frustrating for guys like us to join most of the public servers.
