BF Vietnam
Has anyone ever wondered why BF2 is called BF2? Shouldnt it be BF3 since it was BF1942, BF Vietnam, and THEN BF2??

BFVietnam was Bf 1.5
Think of it as an expansion pack for BF42. It used the same engine. Any time a new engine is developed for a BF game, THAT game is the true next Battlefield. So the next engine will be BF3. BF2142 is BF 2.5, not 3. -

SF was 30 bucks when it came out.. today i saw it for 20 bucks and BF:V for 30.. now there is something wrong there.Comment

Everybody pretty much has it right.
BFV was to BF1942 as BF2142 will be to BF2.
They aren't really sequels because they are using the same engine (albeit modified).
BF3 will probably be slated for late 2007, and it's anybody's guess as to the premise.
My guess? Similar to BF2...near-future/current gen tech.Comment
