eVGA Geforce 7900GT KO Superclocked Can't enable AA Online

I can enable AA when I'm offline, but when I'm online, I select AA, then hit apply and it will go right back to Off? Any ideas, I am using the 84.21 drivers, I wouldn't think it a driver problem when it works offline.

Well...before you try to try to turn it on in the game, are your out-of-game AA settings set to "application controlled?"

Yes, they are. Works offline, but not online. My thoughts are use the reset to default, then see if it works, if still no luck. Delet the profile and see if that works, if still no luck I am going to try moding the video.con file per http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_7.html

I'm not sure which of these if any will adjust the AA

I also just got a new video card, unistalled drivers and device an then installed the one referenced above. Do I need to reinstall BF2 possibly?

Close BF2, go back in and select AA, hit apply and restart BF2..should work

Thanks, I think that's what I get for buying a game from EA, they must be the worst game designers, they have so many bugs with their games, must have ex-Microsoft programers. Unfortunately they make alot of great games, so I'm stuck buying from them. I only paid
$319, then $20 rebate, they just dropped the price to $309 and then $20 rebate.

Your problem may be with the video.con file itself. I used to have several of my settings on 4 (Ultra-High) and now I notice that they only say "HIGH" instead of UltraHigh, and the file changed all the 4's back to 3's. I think this was a change with the latese (1.3) patch.

Try this... edit your video.con file to make all those 4's into 3's. Also set your AA to 4samples. Now save the file. Right click on the file and select properties and make it READ ONLY. This locks the file so BF2 can't edit it. Load up and check your settings.

If you ever want to change your video settings you'll have to unlock the file first.

Nice, thanks. Sounds like a solution. I really like the idea of me actually controling the program with the lock. I'll try this soon as I get home, sitting here at work (I hate my job) dreaming about playing.


Update: I modded the video.con files and the AA was enabled, no more problems.

And by a strange coincidence... I typed my solution while sitting here hating my job :)

Here's the line I was talking about:

VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 4Samples
