i use my joystick only for planes and helos. yes, even helos for all of you who swear that keyboard and mouse are the only way to fly a helo...i just cant do it.

There is nothing you can do with a keyboard/mouse that you cannot do with a joystick.

In fact, there IS something you can do with a joystick that cannot be done with a keyboard/mouse ... pull a long hard turn/loop without lifting your mouse off the mousepad

They have proven us wrong sir- map a key on the mouse as "Pull up" and youre done!



I use both keyboard and joystick. I cant have both hands on joystick, very uncomfortable. Plus I think that keys offer better throttle control for me.

I also use mouselook a LOT, so I can use hatswitch keys more effectively.

PS. I know what turn you had in mind- and yes, it can be done with JS just as easily.

That old MX510 and mouse pad is actually for my wife's PC. My monitor is RMAed to Viewsonic so I'm using my MX518 on her PC for now.

Mouse isn't really that important, it's the hand that handles it.
I'm trying to find myself a decent big CRT since my old 17" simply sucks, and my 19" LCD has a low response time, but I still cannot get used to LCDs for gaming.

I use the keyboard for WASD while flying because when I started the Joystick I had didn't have a Z-axis.

I never really got out of the habit of using it :> I actually twist my joystick and hit the corresponding key now out of habit :X

With a helicopter though I have both hands on the joystick for better control of the throttle though.

I use my joystick (XBOX 360 controller for Windows) when flying a plane, much easier to do tricks or to avoid AA misseles!
