Im not an expert sniper, but it is my favorite, I started a 2nd account just for sniping and I am about 42% acc. Just started it recently. I am beating my deaths but not by too much thanks to artillery and tk and suicides. I like L96 the best. I dont think it is possable to notice the difference in bullit drop from m 95 to l 96 At about 300m they are both about 1 pixle. The crosshairs on the m 95 are bigger so you might be aiming lower or something. I ve found the l 96 to be the most accurate even more then the m 24.
Personally I like the m24 better, but hearing all the talk about the l96.... it might just be my next unlock!
One question tho, how do you know the distance to a target? like the reply above says 300m for 1 pixel of bullet drop.... is there an option or command you can type to see the distance to a target?
Well, seeing as how I've had the chance to try out all of the sniper rifles and each of their perks and downsides, my vote just had to go to the L96A1. The M24 was my first favorite for accuracy, and when I went on a heli-pilot killing streak with the M95, I went crazy about that for a while. But with the L96, I can pretty much dominate the streets with easy headshots and little to no need to fire twice on one soldier.
I don't like the semi-auto weapons to much. The M24 can't ever be best, because it's the same as the L96A1, but that one has tinner crosshairs and will therefore always be more accurate.
M95 is a great weapon, since the .50 bullets ignore armored bodies. But I think a headshot will do anyhow, but if you can't aim well and don't mind a bit less accuracy the M95 is fine.

I rarely use the M95 but what I did notice is that its more or less deadcenter up to 200 meters. The trick with the M95 is that you have to use the underside of where the lines of the crosshair meet. At least thats what I read here on the boards, posted by a M95 fan :) Allthough getting kills with the M95 beyond 250 meters is very hard. The L96 does a better job imo.
Blackduck did a nice summary of the bulletdrop in the game ...

I prefer the M24 also, whenever I am on the USMC side I choose that one over my L96A1 unlock. The L96A1 is my tool of choice whenever I am playing the other side. Unless its an Urban map in which visibility drops to 200 meters max anyways and you are better of with a semi-auto.
If you want to see what the distance is to a target you can do it 2 ways that I use myself also. 1. is to quesstimate based on the nearest flag to where your target is. 2. if you have the chance measure distance sometimes on your map. Or whenever you make a kill, by using some measuringtape :) Also use a flag for reference to get a more or less exact distance to your kill, like this ...
I prefer the M24 because of its sexy looks and sound, but the L96A1 beats it in sound surpression and reload time.
The important thing to note is that the drop increases quadratically like in real life, rather than linearly. That means at double the distance, you get four times the drop. At three times the distance, you get nine times the drop. Good to remember when you don't have the chart to refer to :>
As for rifles, I go between the L96 and M95. They both have their merits, and really they're both awsome rifles. The downfall of the M95 is that it has a huuuuuge moving deviation. Over twice the deviation of any other gun in the game. This makes it imperative that you stand absolutely stock still while shooting (moving the crosshair doesn't trigger moving deviation, so your character just has to be still). Other than that, it's a fine gun. I use the L96 most of the time though, due to its quick reload time and sexy crosshairs.
