    Armored Fury vs Patch 1.3

I have a question for you. Two things before I ask you the question:

1st: I see a lot of people saying that AF worth the price and should be tryed

2nd: I think EA/Dice really screwed the 1.3 patch. (plz no whining about the latest patch, thx)

So, I have a (big) problem giving money or giving encouragement, by buying a extension, to a company who fail to fix a lot problems in their game, and when they try to boost the game, create a lot more of problems than before. But on the other hand, AF look like a very good extension. What should I do?

    thank for your opinion

Armored Fury was worth the 10 bucks for me.

The patch has some bugs, but they all have had them, so no big deal.

yeah AF was really great, the jets are perfectly balanced with the AA, this is how they should be in vanilla and SF. Although the Chinese have the best jets in all 3 games, the J10 and the Fantom jet both have better maneuverability than the US or MEC ones. It is a great game for the money, I love Midnight Sun.

Everyone I know personally who plays is having issues with AF CTD's and freezing up. They can play normal vanilla BF2 fine, but have these random issues. If I were to do it again I'd put off buying it right now and wait for a patch first.

I take good care of my PC and I only have a few random CTD's. Normally I can play 1-2 hours without a ragequit, so that's fine for me. EA's got my vote of confidence for AF.

Judging from the patches that have already been issued I think that EA/DICE are making a good faith effort to address the issues that people raise. You might disagree with some of the methods that they have used, but many of them have been exactly what people have asked for on these forums (hell, some of them have been *precisely* what I asked for on these forums). I still dislike some of what they have done, but on balance I think they are doing a good job of maintaining this game. The 1.3 patch may have had its problems, but they are not severe enough to justify a boycott and I have enjoyed the AF pack so far, so my advice is that if it sounds like your kind of game, then buy AF.

Boycotting isn't the same as seeing if they iron out the server an client issues brought by the 1.3 patch. I'm suggesting he be smart and wait to see if EA actually comes through this time instead of tossing cash their way.

                    Thank everybody for your answer/opinion

I will probably buy AF, but I still feel unconfortable after the 1.3 patch experience.

Before the patch, I had 1 CTD per week, and after 1.3, it's now 1-3 CTD per evening. Also, I see a lot of server crashing. It's the mains reasons because I have some problem buying AF.

Now, this is just my optionon, but 1.3 wasnt as big as a disaster as past BF2 patches, remember the memory leak issue in one of the early patches? Now, that was a real issue. The key thing that was contraverical in this patch was blocking of alternate stats, blocking mod created game modes (though I've seen that the modders have gotten around that..), and the squad hopping. At least with my expereince with the patch, it was mainly postitive...thought I havent gotten AF yet .

1.3 have some good sides as well.

SF runs better than ever, no more AA hitting friendly planes/choppers (Well maybe happens some times but not as often as pre-patch 1.3.

                        And haven't regret buying AF.

AF is a lot of fun, and well worth the $10. Most fun I've had in BF2 since PR came out.

I must admit I didn't experience this kind of problem with the patch you mention. It's the first time I had hardware/software problem (CTD) with a patch. May be It's why I felt chill(??) with this one.

I had also noticed this contraverical things. I can also add one: Vehicule Drop. If it is really discutable modifications to the game, it's not the mains reasons because if have a problem with the patch.

I would be pleased to start a thread to discuss this modification, but I'm sure it's already hard debated and I have the feeling it will go anywhere (whining, trolling, etc...)
