I got the game roughly two weeks ago, and I have to say I'm not a bad pilot compared to some of the high ranked people I've seen... I got my first one-manned copter TV-missile kill today, and I'm a corporal, so uh yeah, rank means nothing if you have some quick learners.

Thats stereotyping there, you don't have enough time to hit esc and do bfhq and search there score as you would no doubt be blown up, so you see their rank say pvt, now lets say they are one of the top ranking pilots and they started a new account, but you don't pick them up?

Wow you are an idiot. You must not fly much because when you are going head to head with a chopper it is ALL about the TVs....if you have a gunner that cant or wont TV you WILL die unless the guy in the other chopper is a total noob. It sucks that it all comes down to the gunner but it is the sad truth. Now a good pilot can evade incoming TVs if they are good enough but all you are doing is putting off the inevidable which is getting hit with TV.

I'll tell you what JAG...you and some crappy gunner go against me and my gunner and you will change your tune real quick.

No actually it is better to fly without a gunner then have a crappy gunner at all. Atleast without a gunner I can do a solo TV and have a chance at surviving. But with a crappy gunner all you can do I sit and wait for the TV to take you out.

Yup, you're an *******. Rank doesn't matter, just pick somebody up and live with it. If they're not that great, work with them and tell them how to do better.

I must say, I absolutely disagree with the original posters approach to chopper piloting. I find this approach to be completely arrogant, selfish, and ignorant.

Its arrogant because people who pilot like this somehow feel they are more deserving than others to be in the chopper. You are no more deserving than any other noob, and you are arrogant for thinking you are.

It is selfish because the chopper does not belong to you exclusively, unless its your own private unranked server. Other people also payed for the game, that gives them the right to use whichever vehicle they please, you dont have the right to deny them their right to fly in the heli. Ranked servers are public, as are all the vehicles.

Its ignorant because its a game, you will not suffer any real consequences for allowing people some experience in the helicopter. its a game, so let others play. It is also ignorant because you assume rank has any bearing on skill in the chopper, this is plain foolish. No one is perfect with any weapon, so of course there will be misses, there is no reason to dismiss a perfectly good gunner because he/she is not 100% accurate. Also the argument of practicing on single player arises. This argument is invalid considering it takes two humans to effectively be a gunner in a heli, and the bot opponents will not offer any lesson in taking out human targets, this should be common sense, but i see common sense is quite uncommon nowadays.

All in all, if you are not willing, or incapable of allowing others to use the gunner seat, or the pilot seat, they are not the problem, you are. Since this is not real life, there should be no issue in sharing a game-component with other players, if you are unwilling, or incapable of offering helpful advice to make both of your experiences more enjoyavble, then again, the problem is with you, and not the noob who wants a chance to play in the heli. People who deny others the opportunity to fly, or gun tend to be the point whores, who take the game way too seriously, and need to lighten up and realize its a game, and other people have the right to do everything as well. If it is too difficult for you to share, then i truly pity you, because it really displays lack of basic human social skills, and makes the game unpleasant for others.

except that it really does mean alot, it means they are totally inexperienced. I'm talking about privates and corporals here.

Im a private, and Ive been playing this game since july of last year, rank means jacksh*t ingame, many people have multiple accounts pal.

And i dont just base it on that either, like i said it look at their current score. If they are along the lines of 3 and 16 they are a waste of space in the cockpit.

what the hell kind of logic is that, they could have just joined the game, thats why they have a low score, or they might just not be a uber-1337 vehicle whore like most people......

I hate solo pilots for only one reason. I don't get two kills when I shoot them down. I get seriously bummed when only one guy dies.

You see, I am the annoying guy who drives around in vehicles and won't skip a beat taking you stupid butt down with the mounted gun from a buggy or a MEC DPV. You go flying by while I hide around the corner. I slip around it and begin to light you up and by the time you realize what's going on, you and anyone in the chopper with you are dead.

So you go right ahead and fly alone, but don't think for a second you won't get wasted because you have a good gunner. I waste guys like you all the time and I don't even fly because I don't enjoy it.

The most common scenario for solo gunners is shooting other choppers, jets or semi-stationary tanks and vehicles. You run into someone like me, who drives around and lurks waiting out of sight for someone in a chopper to expose his backside and you're gone.

I love shooting guys like the OP out of the sky from the ground in a little buggy. It makes me smile.

I really enjoy playing maps like gulf of oman, especially when I'm piloting the cobra. In the event that I do manage to pilot the heli I down right refuse to take really low rank gunners. I look at their score thus far in the game and generally if it sucks I wont pick them up.

The other day this happened with a corporal who asked for a ride. I said "no sir" and flew away so he called me foul things and I just ignored him. Is it really that bad to not want to die from other peoples incompetence? I mean i'll gladly take on someone who knows what a camera missle is but half the time these guys are a liability.

And yea I know "how are they going to get better if you dont let them try" - well to that I'm sure they can find some other crappy pilot to die with.

I certainly dont whore the vehicle the entire round at any rate.

So is it that bad that I dont have a death wish?

too bad you judge people by their stats, there are some awesome gunners with low ranks, they just dont care about ranks, ranking system is killing this game anyways
