Just now, I was playing on an Internode server (24/7 Karkand) and came across a player using the Hotel exploit. I'm an Internode customer, so I'm able to download the bf2demo files from their servers ... and I did for both of the rounds in question.
Basically, here's what happened:
Round 1: For at least 10-15 minutes, Player X was begging the commander to provide him with a vehicle drop in the right place. The commander repeatedly refused and the whole time, Player X politely asked again and again, apparently excited to show everyone what he could do. All the while, he came across as a completely naive kid who had found something cool that he wanted to show others.
Round 2: Player X took the commander role at the very beginning of the round -- he was a 1st Lieutenant, so he outranked virtually everyone else on our team -- and promptly gave himself the vehicle drop, entered the Hotel and remained there for the entire round. Final score: 122 - 16 - 50 - 0.
Round 3: Same as Round 2. Final score was about the same.
All the while, I took Fraps footage of him, screenshots galore, and now I have the bf2demo files as well ... and yet, I'm in two minds about reporting him, simply because in that first round, he came across as having absolutely no idea that what he was doing could result in his stats getting wiped. I made a few comments to that effect via Team Chat but he didn't acknowledge anything I'd written.
So, a couple of questions:
1. Do you think I should report him? In my position, is that what you would do?
2. Have you ever reported anyone and, if so, did you have any hesitation about doing so?
(I'm off to bed now, so I'll check the thread when I wake up.)
