can anyone give some suggestions on the best way to actually get a knife kill? not necessarily tactics but actually making the kill. it seems like i'm too close, too far. how do you aim for the kill? what distance do you need to be? that type of thing. thanks!

Re: knife kills - how to get them?
You want to be close enough to reach them without bumping into them. Sometimes, if you bump into them, then you'll get a swing with no contact (passthrough). It takes a little practice.
The running around like a maniac is true. Try to be stealthy and sneak up on people, dive at their feet, and stab away. I found the best results come as a medic or spec-ops, since speed is your biggest ally. I got my badge on Sharqi.Comment

Re: knife kills - how to get them?
Personally I feel knife kills are overly powerful. Seriously my .50 sniper rifle to the torso doesn't kill one shot but a puny knife slash to the foot does? WTF?
So needless to say I don't have many of them.
Personally I find that you can generally garnish a knife kill or two if you don't simply shoot everything that doesn't move.
I personally hate the idea of getting a knife kill, so I DO shoot everything that moves. However I do manage to sneak up on a couple of people who are camping a point.
If you are interested in more kills than that, simply play a lot of Karkand or Sharki, and learn to strafe well. I've also noticed it helps to be about second in the wave. The people will generally shoot the hell out of the first guy, and you can sprint up and shank them as they are knifing. I know there are many different opinions on this, but I've been killed by more sniper-knifers with the longer sprint than the assault knifers with body armour.

Re: knife kills - how to get them?
I do it as a sniper mostly. Some of them are from turning around just in time to see someone sneaking up on me. Others are from sneaking around and stabbing people in the back.
A lot of people like to go prone when stabbing, but crouching is just about as good, imo. I think crouching is a little better because you can stand up and run more easily, imo. As a sniper you can hide in the bushes and wait for idiots to walk past you. When they are busy staring off in some direction (away from you), you can bum-rush them (i.e. Karkand, behind the fence on the west of the Hotel).
I'm not expert though, as my stats would prove.Comment

Just take the knife, make sure the price doesn't leave this room until, owww sorry... I'm watching Mine2
Here's the trick: the distance of the enemy you want to kill must be an half armlenght.
HINT: try to take them on there back (stab at least 2 times to be sure!)
You follow those inscriptions, I have my expert knife

Re: knife kills - how to get them?
Keep stabbing until they die. The hit code is very poor for the knife sometimes it takes over 5 to kill them. Also remember this when you go for the kill try not to run all the way up to them if you can, walk the last part because people can hear you running but its much harder to hear when you are just walking.Comment

I think it just takes some health off them - this happened to my teammate today when i was a medic so I saw his health bar.Originally posted by Mobdawwgsometimes if i hit someone, you see the dust like you stabbed them and they still dont die. whats up?
My tip to the original poster is to not swing until you are definitly in range, then crouch (ctrl), and slash away. Works for me... (occasionally lol)Comment

Re: knife kills - how to get them?
Nope it doesn't damage them at all. Its the buggy hitboxes and it seems to be the worst with the knife for some reason. That's why I said to keep stabbing until they die.Originally posted by [SCOT]PhatHemmerI think it just takes some health off them - this happened to my teammate today when i was a medic so I saw his health bar.
