Ok, I bet by the next time I look at this, it will be on page 3 because no one replied or someone will insult me some how lol.

Anyway, I was just curious if you all have noticed what I have noticed...What is with the voip in game? Since the patch, I have had it successfully work maybe twice on countless severs I have played on. Could it possibly been bugged from the patch, or any ideas? I know it's not just me because I play with friends usually and voip does not work for them either.

There seems to have been an issue with in-game VoiP since just before the patch. Several server admins have reported problems.

The R2's VoiP used to be rock solid, but it's gotten flakey too.
As I say, this started before the patch.
I'm starting to wonder if maybe it has to do with something in the background... something like the BF2/GS network interface.

I've never seen VOIP used on a ranked server... ever.

It's great when it works. Truely fantasic when you get a good squad of people working together with in-game VoiP, even it they are random pubbers who just ended up in the same squad.

If anyone had better information than what I posted above, do tell!

Yeah, I'd love to get with a good squad and be able to take advantage of it.

For whatever reason, absolutely no one I ever squad with is using it on the EA US Official servers (which is all I play on); granted, it's all random people there for the most part, but I've been playing BF2 since late June '05 and the only time I've ever been able to see VOIP in action was with a couple friends on an empty local server.. pretty lame, cause it seems like a great system.

Over here in Australia all Gamearena and Internode ( the main game server companies in Aussieland ) have VOIP activated.

Ya might wanna swing by the server in my sig sometime. As I mentioned, there's been VoiP problems that people are working to resolve, but when it's up, it gets used. General teamplay is perty damn good too. Can be tough to get in tho.

I would think so, but perhaps they don't? Maybe someone can chime in and confirm that for us.

Ok well at least I am not the only one out there lol. And ya I noticed some problems with voip before 1.3 as well, just not as bad. I really hope they fix this feature because it is what my friends and I use to talk all the time, and I don't care much for team speak.

I never even used VoIP :| Never got it too work.. Also I'm got my new PC and I'm going to buy a new headset but what kind of headset shall I buy USB or Normal (What I have now..)

I've heard reports of problems with USB mics not working so well with BF2. You'll prolly wanna stick with mini-jack ("normal") mics.

Yea VOIP hasnt been working on most of the servers I have played on since 1.3...

My question is... can you set the VOIP to comeout of a certain speaker? or manually raise the volume?

I have a couple squadmates that I play with and use VOIP but one of the guys I can not make out what he is saying unless there is absolutely no battle sounds around me. I ask my other buddy and he can hear the other just fine. In other words on my end one guy comes in loud and clear, the other sounds like a mouse... on the other guys end we all come in loud and clear.

I assume that you have a PCI soundcard installed in your PC. So there is no need to invest extra money on a USB headset with integrated soundcard.

I can highly recommend a pair of Sennheiser PC 150 or 160 series. Best sound you can get from headphones, and a very good microphone.
The PC160 I use for myself, and it has been worth every cent of it's addmittedly high price.

Oh, and ingame VOIP works flawlessly for me but maybe it's because of the X-Fi soundcard.
