  • 6.5 Cats = Crappy console text

Ever since installing the 6.5 cats my console text has gone to crap. I've tried different resolutions and anti-aliasing on/off. I've tried in-game AA as well, but that's a no-go since every time I hit apply it defaults back to off. o.O

I have a Radeon 9600XT, yet my fiance has an X1600Pro and gets the same issue. I've also noticed crappy quality with my xfire's in-game text (except it's still readable, whereas BF2's isn't). I haven't tried rolling back my drivers yet to 6.4, even though I'm pretty sure that would fix it, because I've noticed better gameplay in another game I play with the 6.5 drivers.

      Standard Settings: Use Custom
      AA: Let app decide
      Adaptive: Off
      Anisotropic: Let app decide
      Cat AI: Advanced
Mipmap: Quality (2nd to last one)
      API Specific: Geo instancing/DXT texture/Alt. pixel/Triple buffering
      Overdrive: Off

They're the same settings I've used in all of the driver versions I've had, save for the Adaptive AA since that's new to my card model with 6.5, which I think is what's buggering up my in-game texts, but that wouldn't explain an X1600Pro having the same issue. =| I'm not sure what he's got his settings on, they could be the same as mine.

I have a similar problem, but I'm using nforce drivers, shockingly.
I do though, have texture filtering on high. Weird.

I use catalyst 6.4 for my X800. I remember with my 9600, anything over catalyst 6 messed up the text and graphics, like big black holes and stuff, so I had to stick with 5.6

Well the reinstall didn't work. If I have to I'll revert to 6.4 until 6.6 comes out and see if there's a change.

Yeah, make sure you totally wipe all previous drivers first otherwise it creates a whole bunch more problems.

maybe its your resolution distorting the words?

6.5 cat with my agp x800xl works just fine. No problems here and the text is just fine for me.

Have you deleted your bf2 vid cache and let them reoptimize yet?

                        @rams: I always do.
@USMC: Nothing's changed except the drivers, so why would it distort now?
@Cigar: Yep. BF2's cache folder is one of the custom folders setup in my CCleaner.
