How many People play BF2 globally

Hi folks! First thread so hope it isn't too stupid.
Does anyone have any idea how big the ENTIRE BF2 community is in terms of players? I've heard all sorts of figures but it mostly comes out at around 2 million.

Does this sounds right?

You can check on the in-game server browser i think, though im guessing alot of those accounts down the bottom arent even used.

Battlefield 2 has sold around 2.1 million copies globally to date so that's the number of people who could be playing BF2. Quite how many of those are regular players is harder to estimate though as a lot of people would have got bored and moved on.

There are normally around 7000 BF2 servers running meaning that there could be around 200,000 people playing BF2 though the number of servers populated is MUCH lower than 7000, normally around 1000 to 1500 so I would guess that, at any one time, there would be around 50,000 players online. That's just the server figures though, the number of people that *could* be playing, you'd have to delve deeply into the stats to get more information as to how many "active" players there are and I suppose you'd have to define "active" too.

You'd have to assume that the number of active players will be way less than 2.1 million though.

Visit that page and scroll to the bottom, mouse over the country names and you'll get the number of players for each country. Doesn't give you a total or a chart but it's still interesting to see.

That's quite sad really - imagine being the only player in your entire country playing BF2. How bizarre that, apparently, more people play BF2 on Pitcairn Island than in Mozambique.

The record for number of palyers online at teh same time is 51,000, by EA.

1,038,440 have played on ranked servers according to the Leaderboards tab in BFHQ in-game right now. The total ranked is in the upper right-hand corner.

I find it kind of ironic that 66 players in Iraq play BF2. Kinda parallels whats happening over there :p I wouldnt have thought that many people played BF2 in the Middle East :hmm:
