Why don't server admins use Battlerecorder?

I asked, recently, a server admin to add Battlerecorder to his popular server because there are alot of cheats and glitchers that frequent it.

He said that they did in the past, but it slowed down the server and was buggy.

Is Battlerecorder that bad? Personally I wouldn't mind a few missed frames if it means I can go back and video/screenshot a guy cheating/glitching.

    Your thoughts.

It's true, it really does hammer the server performance. IN EA's own readme it says you should not use it on 64-player servers. To quote...

"BattleRecorder will significantly increase your server's load. Therefore we do not support 64 player games with the BattleRecorder feature enabled."

It's a shame as it's a pretty cool feature but hey, I'd rather have a fast server.

Its a real shame that EA/DICE gave up on battlerecorder, after the first patch was released they said they were not going to change anything about the battlerecorder. The only thing I use it for is to record my single player games so I can make some sigs.

Sometimes we have the battlerecorder on for clan matches (some leagues require it) but it makes the game choppy, and thats with only 24 players on the server

It's important for me to take good screens, because high quality makes my FPS drop to 1-2.

I play on ranked with Battlerecorder, It works just fine to me, and I dont see any slight difference in lag. I play on the maximum of a 48 player

it is very dependant on the cpu horsepower of your server hosting company - ie need dual core or dual cpu to get it lag free - and also , should be stored on a different box. so that when players DL the files, it will not 'clog the pipes'

You can easely do this without byrden the server. Just have 2 computers with a fast connection to each other, then you'll have the Battlerecorder FTP on the computer and the server itself on the other. :)

Also, besides the obvious hammering to the cpu, you end up with countless demo's published to a 'community' tab for people to d/l. Hosts aren't always hip to that as the bandwidth consumed could skyrocket if demo d/l becomes a big thing from their server.
