    Inconsistent volume

Hello everyone, first time poster. I got a question regarding volume levels.

The problem is that I've configured the game to use hardware instead of software for sound and set the quality to high. The issue at hand is the volume cannot be adjusted, I adjust the sliders for sound effects to no avail, however the in game music slider does seem to function.

The reason why I'm asking is that if I'm using Ventrilo (using DirectSound via the sound card also), and that has the volume turned to the max, which is fine for any other game, but is inaudible when BF2 launches.

    The technical stuff
    OS: Windows 2000 SP4
Sound card: Built-in 8 channel sound card with Realtek AC97 Codecs

Is there any way to fix this or am I basically SOL?

    Thanks in advance.

Wow, I am not sure man. Interesting problem.

Maybe you could adjust something in your \My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\ ?

Not really sure, anyone else have some ideas?

Well it seems the volume control only works when I choose Software Rendering, but doesn't this defeat the purpose of having a sound card?

Have you got the latest drivers? I had problems with AC'97 audio so I just got an X-FI card, much better

It would if your onboard sound was capable of playing BF2 in hardware mode. Basically unless you have an Audigy of some kind (but not the LS/SE/DE for the same reason as onboard) or an X-Fi, you can only use software mode.

Hardware mode fully supports BF2 (hell, even my surround sound works) I just couldn't adjust the volume. As for the sound blaster, I don't have a Audigy series, but I do have a SoundBlaster LIVE! 5.1 that i'm planning to install.
