you virtually can do that with the j10 now. slow down the j10 while landing on the carrier and use the space-shuttle way of slowing by keeping your nose real high + airbrake. i do this sometimes to land on people.

i tried flyin the j-10 like a chopper n shooting n bombing while hovering. incredibly slow.
anyway, the planes do stall, but nt really at any angle of attack, but instead, it stalls at high altitude. kinda incorrect stalling though, but planes still stall.

        It's just a great idea.
That is a great idea and I wish EA would do this and not dum down the aircraft so much, as it would be more fun if the aircraft were more challanging to fly.

Have you ever gone to an airshow? and F16 or F15 cna muscle climb staright up to 15 k feet before thinking of stalling. My uncle flies F16s in Phoenix hed know.. and in bf2 you can only go to 1,000 feet anyways. No stall there. Also you see them do a high angle low speed pass. I haev a video from cockpit its going around 120 and at very high angle and no stall. Search Viper West on google. its there somewhere.

            Re: Planes should stall

To properly recover from a stall condtion requires several thousand feet and airflow over the wing. Something you will never have in the BF2 world.

            Try the cobra manuver.

Horse the plane pulling back until you flip over while still going forward. The thrust of your engines will stop you in the air relative to ground speed and you should be able to recover from this postion in time to engage the enemy that overshot you.

It cannot be done in the BF2 world. The best you can hope for is going straight up or into a loop.

In BF2 the best you can hope for is to have more energy while the other fellow falls out of the sky.

I recall a story about a P-51 vs a Folke wulf 109 where both planes are climbing together in combat, the one plane that runs out of airspeed is the one that must dive and present itself as a target. The -51 had what was needed to survive the fight that particular day.

In a dog fight, save your energy, to be the one still in control and flying while the other falls out of sky means to win.

What speed do you think it lands at? It's approach speed is probably 150 or there abouts so I doubt if 200 at level flight is its stall speed.

Exactly. In BF2, the jets start dropping out of the sky at around 350 or so mph/knots/whatever. Point being - the physics in BF2 are all out of whack.

Yes, this much is obvious. .50 cal to the chest on an unarmored infantry and he walks away. Tank's main gun shoots you in the head and some shock paddles make it all better. List goes on. That's why bitching about it never made sense to me, nothing is realistic.

Some real changes need to be made or I will check out Armed assualt when it comes out as some more realisem would be nice.

                      Re: Planes should stall

BF2 is a "GAME" not "SIM"

I do not believe anyone ever claimed it to be anything else.

The IL2 series dumps just about everything it has into the sim
                      engine to reproduce this.

As previously hinted in other replies, flying the jet in the "GAME" is a bit
like asking a Cheeta to run a full speed in a DOG CRATE! If the "GAME"
were to reproduce true FModels you wouldn't be able to do anything.

At true airspeeds you would not even be able to see the targets on
the ground from the altitudes/Ceiling you are forced to fly under.

....Those examples are not of physics....What you should have said was the fact that planes turn TIGHTER when they go FASTER. Thats just completely stupid.

                          Re: Planes should stall

When I first started flying in BF2 I can remember thinking this is rediculous!
In two seconds I was on the other side of the map, and I had a hard time
keeping the jet in such a small parimeter. I have gotten a little better, but
to this day, I still have a hard time lining up on a target properly for a good
                          bomb or strafing run..

I'm probibly just too old and the reflects are gone, or maybe I just haven't
logged a sufficient ammount of flight time.

I figured after playing the IL2 series for a few years, I would be primed
for this easy arcade style flight models, but it has it's own challenges.
                          Mostly confinment for me.

Want realism? Fly something like the Modified Falcon 4. After one look
at the flight manual that comes with the SIM, you'll be back in BF2 during
                          your study breaks!! hahahaha:laugh:

Aircraft Physics in BF2 are a joke in general. Just have to deal with it. =\

yea that would be so cool... i'm still a nooby when it comes down 2 flyin ( i can only land when hovering :P) but i'll go practicing alot when EA/Dice would do that...

The decent pilots like myself land after taking heavy damage.
