We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Or AF for that matter? Can't see anywhere in add/remove software or EA downloader to do it.
AF is lagging my normal bf2 reall hard. I like to see if I can just uninstall my EF and AF.
The booster pack is just some added maps and files to support them. I really doubt that they have any effect on the vanilla bf2. More than likely it is a system environment condition causing your problem.
Try this...rename your battlefield 2 folder in "My Documents". Don't delete it, just rename it, this way you can go back to it afterwards if you want to.
Now, restart BF2. It will act like a fresh install. Select to retrieve you account info. You may need to go into the options menu to reset your video info.
Remember, your original settings are now in the renamed directory, so you have not lost anything. You just need to setup a few things with the defaulted settings to see if we can fix your problem.
Startup a couple of maps in single player mode so that bf2 can optimize the video again. Once that is done, just jump into a ranked server to see how the gameplay is. Don't get serious in the ranked server cause you do not have all of your keys set as before (if you modified them from default before). Just go in there to see if the game plays correctly.
Let us know what happens and we can go from there.
AF install definately did something to the system. I was playing bf2 just fine before and after the AF install it lagged it to no end, this is after I cleaned out the shaders cache directory. 3 restarts of BF2 didn't help.
Then I rebooted the machine, and everything's fine now. Thanks Microsoft!
I learned a while back, always restart after installing a program or add-on.
With AF I did not think I would need to restart, as it is only some added maps and their associated info. But after a few maps, I got a memory.dll error with bf2. So, I restarted my computer and have played AF for 7 more hours without any problems (other than the server crashing after working my butt off for 30 mins or more).
