Why 2 screenshot formats?

When I take a screenshot - it saves a .png and a .jpg.

why?

Creating the .png makes my game stop for a second or two.

anyone know why ea did this?

PNG is much higher quality than jpg. They did this so you would have to option of using an internet freindly, lower quality .jpg, ot the high quality, lage filesize png.

maybe my eyes are broken, but i don't see any increase in quality with .png (though i know png's are inherintly superior).

Maybe my graphics are set too low to notice?

jimmy - can you post an attachement with a jpg and png screenshot in high settings so i can see the difference?

Since most .PNG are too large to host I've taken some text from each type. This is the easiest way to compare the compression used. The .png is on the top and .jpg is on the bottom.

LOL I have the perfect SS to test:

Look at the words mainly at the top left. You will see in the jpeg there are like "artifacts" or whatever you call them, in and around the words.

Yeah I turned AA off for a little smoother performance.. everything else is on high though.

No, that's what happens when I don't look as the pic I'm posting too closely.

EDIT: Also my res was switched to 1024x768 for some reasone, will post some diffrent ones later.
