Impact sounds sometimes muted?

This only happens when Im in a tank or other vehicle... I'll be cruising along then my view will shudder a bit and my vehicle's armor will reduce by a big chunk... Its clear that I was struck by an AT rocket but I never heard the sound.

Any suggestions? It seems like its been happening since i got the game but I only started paying attention to it recently.

(All my drivers are up to date and I am set to Hardware/medium in my sound settings.)

Yeah, I get that sometimes, I think its just another problem with BF2.

Agreed, I'm using an Audigy4 w/EAX and all the goodies turned on and I'm have times in a tank or helo when a big impact (tank shell, igla, etc..) hits me with no reporting sound. I'd say bug, nothing on your part. To be safe, make sure all your sound drivers are up to date.
