A Map I'd Pay to See

Yeah, I know they're probably done making maps for BF2, since they're plotting 2142 already, but I really like BF2, with real weapons. In all honesty, I could care less for another scifi shooter, especially with ET:QW hitting nearly the same time. I like my "real" world shootout.

Anyhow, now that I got that out of my system, I had to post up my concept for a map that I think would rock. The theme of SF was urban combat, the theme of EF was "big open space", it looks like AF will be the same as EF. Personally, I don't find those maps very fun, as I most enjoy tight fights, like Mash/Kark/Sharqi, and sometimes Wake. It's not that I can't use a tank or jet, it's that I enjoy infantry, or even infantry-vs-vehicle fights far more, and I get really ****ed when I end up forty kilometeres from nowhere, with no way to get back, and the commander is too busy dropping DPVs on people to get me one. So, I thought of a level that, if it was in a booster, I would be willing to pick up.

Tell me what you think: It's called "Riverine Assault", and it's featured at dusk, in a very hilly terrain, too steep to maneuver armor over. At the coast, there is an Essex, from which the US team launches. The coast is steep, nearly cliff-like, with only a few points that are landable. There are, however, numerous snaking rivers that delta into the coast, and the carrier is overstocked with boats.

The US team must launch river assault in the boats, weaving through the jungle valleys, to take key points (fueling stations, PLA depots, etc). These are accessible from the river (and have their own boats). On land, tight, snaking roads crisscross the watery ravines with high bridges, allowing land paths that wind and intersect the riverways. The PLA would be advised to position defenses on these bridges to rain fire on the attackers.

All bases would be accessible by at least one river and one road, with almost all of the rivers running to the PLA uncap, a military depot with boats, transport, and helicopters. The emphasis of the map would be speed and surprise, running road battles and river assaults. There would be no tanks/APCs/jets, as these would ruin the mode of attack, but there would be numerous transport choppers to provide mobility, and each side would have an attack helicopter. To counter the air mobility, there would be an abundance of AA on the map, including a mobile AA unit at the PLA uncap to counter the US's greater supply of helicopters, but this would take some time to wind up the roads.

The colors of the level would be green and orange-red, the setting sun against the dense foliage, with tight infantry fighting in the depots and overwatches (tower outposts on top of ridges/mounts), and running battles in the rivers and ridgeline roads between light and fast units.

I think it would be pretty cool, and a nice change of pace.

The really sad thing is, had EA/DICE supported this game better, as in fixing the minute things wrong with it, they could have EASILY, extended the life (and profits), and had happy customers buying boosters and expansions for a long time. New maps would have given much needed life, but alast, we got wake, a buggy expansion, and a booster that barely has anyone playing, GG.
