    Got a X1800XT and Anti Aliasing won't work !

I've had no probs on my 6600gt with turning anti aliasing on, but now I've just installed a HIS X1800XT and every time I click on anything other than "OFF" on the AA section and press apply it just goes straight back to "OFF" again !!!

I've got Catalsyt 6.5 and have tried setting everything to aplication controled and even tried forcing anti aliasing on through the control panel - no joy

I've also tried clearing the cache

Anyone else had problems with AA not wanting to be on ??

try reinstalling Catalsyt or upgrading it, if no luck, change the AA in Bf2

Make sure your setting it in game and not the control panel and it should work correctly. If it doesn't change your drivers.

Yeah, make sure your cointrol panel setting is application preference for both AA and AF.

          cheers guys,

I've made sure the control panel is application based for both AA & AF.

what I have found out since reinstalling the game without any updates is that it AA now works, so it seems patch 1.3 will disable AA for those with X1800XT cards ! I'm just about to try it with patch 1.22 instead...

I use a X1900XTX, so I dunno if its the same issue I encountered, but try to set your control center AA setting to: Let application decide, otherwise it will just be off, and then you have to set it ingame, worked for me..

i use an X600, but i found that when I turn on "Adaptive Anti-Aliasing" in the Catalyst Control center, that i cant turn AA on in-game settings, so you might try disabling that (or making sure its disabled) and if that doesnt work id suggest unintalling your ATI drivers and installing Omega drivers, they give me way better performance and stuff, and theyre easier to work with (for me anyways)

Re: Got a X1800XT and Anti Aliasing won't work !

Well to update - I can now work AA up to 6x in BF2 but only with patch 1.22
it seems 1.3 stopped me being able to use it atall !!

Adaptive Anti-Aliasing is on in catalyst control panel.

But from this screen shot it does not appear to be doing much - in terms of removing the jagged edges ??? especially looking at the 4th tower to the right - Is this the best you get with 6x AA ?

I've never used Omega drivers - I'll give them a go.

OK finally it's now sorted - had to play around with catalyst with various options -

Under standard settings - uncheck "use custom settings"

                uncheck - "Enable adaptive AA"

It now looks stunning as it damn well should on High setting.
                I'm a happy man

sweet, but you may want to try those Omega drivers if you have any more problems, they definitely boosted my computers performance when i installed those rather than the ATI drivers

Zack - are they official drivers or just a hacked version of catalyst ones ?

Try this , Right click the bf2 exe and click propertys . Now rename the exe anything but Bf2. Now go into your control for your ati card and set AA manualy . This is the only way i found to get AA to work if ingame AA doesnt .

it would seem you are almost pointing fingers at me, they are not "official" ATI drivers, they are made by Igor Pavlov (I think thats his name), they arent "hacked" but rather reconfigured to give you better performance, basically he takes the ATI drivers and adapts them to how games need them more so than they already are, or you could say he improves upon them. He does ATI, used to do Nvidia (hasnt been a new one for a while, so Im thinkin me mighta quit those) and I think he does somethin else. you can go check out the site if you want to http://www.omegadrivers.net

There's 2 ways you can get AA to work on ATi cards.

                            1. Make sure AA is set to 'Application Controlled' in the control panel. Start the game, go to the video settings, set the AA to whatever level you want, and make sure you restart the game or else the settings won't be put into effect.

                            2. You can force AA through the video card control panel by turning off Catalyst A.I. Turn off Catalyst A.I. and set the AA to whatever level you desire in the control panel.........and just make sure the in-game AA is set to 'off'.
