Well common sense would indicate that you need to turn your settings down. I'd start with turning the AA off and go from there. You are correct that it seems to be your processor causing the bottleneck but it wouldnt hurt to add some more ram too.

damn overclock that beast, unleash its inner fury, you could probly get to at least 2.2.

i had a 2800+ 1.6Ghz overclocked to 2.0Ghz, hardly any increase in heat and still stable, bought it bout 8 months ago.

i guess you didnt see my post.?

the minimum requirements is a 1.7Ghz CPU, being only a hundred Mhz over probly isnt going to allow you to play with the settings you want

its very simple to oc, just go into your BIOS, im not sure the exact phrase, but mine is under "frequency" settings, and just raist it to at least 2.0Ghz

1.7 Ghz CPU requrement is if you have an Intel CPU. His AMD 1.8 GHz CPU is more like an Intel 3 GHz CPU, hence the AMD 3000+ name, eventhough it runs at 1.8 GHz.

icehousejay when you say all drivers updated, does that include chipset drivers?

You are using latest drivers, not just the ones that come with the install CD right?

You don't know much about AMD chips, do you?

Anyway, his stock CPU setup is effectively running at 3.0ghz, but you are right that it can easily be overclocked to it's full potential.

There is something wrong with your setup, or you have WAY to many background processes running. This is how I know:

I run with no lag (except the brief lag when first joining a game) using Cabel modem with the following system:

              Sempron 64 3100+ (mild o/c to 1.94ghz)
              Biostar Mobo
              400 watt PSU
1gb of NOT EVEN MATCHED MEMORY (512 is 333mhz other is 400mhz)
W/D Caviar 120gb IDE hard drive
              Gigabyte 6800GS PCI-E (mild o/c to 500mhz/1.1ghz mem)
              19" CMV LCD 8ms monitor

I run air-cooled, never breaking a sweat. I do not lag even on SF maps. Some people are very suprised. I don;t know, but I figure it is just proper PC setup involved. So like I was saying, if this rig runs on all high/aax2 (because i dont see much difference in aax4), then your rig should be SMASHING this game, not the other way around.

                    Those minimum requirements are crap. I used to run BF2 on a 900mhz P3. With 512mb ddr133, and a 128mb geforce 6200. Those were the days:p
