How long until Dice and EA split?

im no fortune teller, but im thinking all this community dissatisfaction with the patches might drive a chain of events. there could be a small chance that after the public loses faith in the battlefield series of games, EA ceases seeing the Battlefield series as a moneymaking franchise and either releases/shutsdown Dice, or advises Dice to concentrate on another franchise.

I hope Dice does not get closed down, as Trauma Studios did, as those dudes work hard (although could change some of their coding habits), but in the case in which they get released from EA's fold, i would hope they would get attached to a more community minded publishing company (this isnt a EA is evil rant, even if that is the case, EA is just too huge to really be concerned with the dissatisfaction of one franchise's fans) anybodies thoughts? im not a corporate exec of anything so i dont really know if this is the way things work but heres to hoping for a change in the current path of things.

Dice is a very talented studio and development team. I "HIGHELY" doubt' EA will get rid of them. That would be like someone getting rid of "Tripwire" studios, the maker of Red Orchestra; and they are trying to produce a realistic FPS. Dice are pretty much the best at what they do, the MM-FPS. With somthing like that in your corner you would have to be foolish to let it go.

...now, a name change could happen. Yet, it would still be DICE, just with a different name.

No no my friend, EA is much too smart to let DICE go.

All we are is beta testers for big game/computer corporations. Every new game that comes out has ‘New features’ which usually means it’s new and there are likely tweaks to get it running smoothly. So dice has taken a few tweaks to try to work out the bugs. But if any of you work in a dev world you will find uncovering one bug can lead to others. I’m happy we have these creative talents sharing their skills with an ungrateful community that blast completely obscured rumors.

Well as anyone can tell you, BF2 wont continue to get support forever. I am also sure that Dice (or the people working there) will be a part of EA for a long time. Which only leaves the question as to how long can the Battlefield series go on to answer. I can only honestly see maybe 2 more parts they might add after 2142. Maybe the Korean war set and a BF2-10 years after set. Everything else of intrest has been done.
As a side note the Korean war would have a lot of winter maps with a better engine than the current one and the weapons would have random defects that happen due to the cold and rain, most maps would be push style.
The BF2-10 years after would be with the improved engine and have what Dice thinks would be the standard weapons from 2016. Such as hybrid (diesel and electric) Battle tanks, Humvees etc. Spy mode, where you could act as an enemy soldier during the game. Enemy soldiers could be captured and held untill rescued by team mates. Kit Items could be selected individually but some items would require other items to work properly. Also all the maps would auto adjust for the number of players present, up to 128 players per side. Oh and all this with True 3-D support.
Sorry I got carried away there. To make the answer brief I would say maybe 2 or 3 more years. But that is just my guess. . . . . . . .Red

I heard the same thing. In order for Dice to use the software and whatever tools EA has involved in making BF2 Dice had to be part of EA.

Since EA did infact purchase Dice, the possiblities of a split are nil.
What remains to be seen is if Dice is digested by the EA behemoth.
Origin, Looking Glass, Blusky, Bullfrog, 808 Studios... those are just the dev houses I can name off the top of my head that were purchased by EA and ceased to be shortly thereafter.
