Wow 80 a game, really? So maybe you should go look at eb games site. They have the price of games already and you can preorder.
Also i wasn't talking about everyone with live. I was talking about myself. I plan on getting the $600 PS3. That comes with a 60GB hdd, FREE ONLINE GAMING, wi-fi, hdmi, and blu-ray,
To get an xbox 360 with that it would cost:
$400 xbox 360 with 20gb hdd
$100 wifi adapter
$50 of live to play games online.
$550 total and if you want hd movies that will cost you $100-200 more. So i guess if you don't factor in value the xbox 360 is the better deal. Also if you like to play online games for the life of the console thats $50 a year for 4 years+ =$200 more.
So i can't see how the xbox 360 is a good deal at that price. For everything you get in a PS3 it would cost $850-$950 to equal that on th exbox 360 over its life.
Now about the games. Most of the great xbox 360 games are also on PC, likr you said its easy to port. I have a great PC so why would i want to play them on a console? The rest are mostly shooters which i hate playing with an controller. PS3 has tons of games that are only on that system. That is the reason i'm buying it.
I have never once heard a dev say the xbox 360 is more powerful than the PS3. Every dev that comminted on it has said the PS3 is the more powerful system. Even John Carmack, who you quoted, said the PS3 is 20% more powerful than the xbox 360.
So if you look at the value you are getting with the PS3 compared to the xbox 360 over the next 4-5 years. PS3 is just the better deal for me.

So not everyone is going to subscribe. You also don't factor the $600 'prem' ps3. It's $100-200 more for a ps3. Period.

Heavenly sword isn't making launch, MGS4 isn't making launch, killzone 2 isn't making launch, UT 2007 isn't making launch. Resistance fall of man really isn't anything special, i remember seeing an interview and they were asked (the developers) what made this game stand out from the rest, and he paused to think for a second before anwering, rofl. All i can honestly say the ps3 has going for it is Warhawk and assasins creed (wich is said to be comming out on the 360 aswell). Oh, and eight days was ALL CG. More cg from sony, yay! Wheres killzone? rofl.
Atleast i know with the 360 there is plenty of 3rd party support and many games. Gears of war, Halo 3, mass effect, GTA 4, F.e.a.r., MotoGP 06, too human, chromehounds, table tennis, test drive unlimited, lost planet, ninety-nine nights, Fable 2, Forza 2, saint's row, Prey, huxley, shadowrun, those of wich are just some of the most anticapated games on the 360, that you won't find on the ps3. These of wich have nothing to do with the games that LAUNCHED with the 360, GRAW, Cod2, kameo, Oblivion released a little after, PGR3, need for speed most wanted, perfect dark zero, hitman released a little after, the outfit, bf2: mc, full auto, burnout.. there are just so many more great games on the 360 than the ps3. Mainly because many PC developers and other 3rd party developers are finding it easy to develop for the 360, and porting seems to be easy aswell.
The ps3 is a media machine. Not a 'hardcore' system. It forces you blue-ray and is $100-200 more in cost, even more if the blue-ray disks do end up raising the cost (since they are more).
And do you think blue-ray seems to be making any real difference right now in game storage?
So far 360 games are looking just as good or better..

Oh, and if you've seen the halo 3 announcement trailer, all of what's in that trailer is running real-time and your character could walk over anywhere you saw. (Bungie has said this in there new video 'behind the scenes' watch it, it's great) It's that vast, and they still fit it on an '' OLD DVD '' disk with an amazing graphics engine, plenty of characters, objects, and they're still adding more.
