I haven't ran in to the inability to kick in a while, but I think it has to do with an AFK being alt-tabbed out of the game vs just idling with the game running. I was on a server with an AFK player (as told by the moron admin) sitting in the APC just to keep it while he took an extended break in a round. This rendered the APC invincible where no amount of C4 or AT rockets could inflict any damage. I am pretty sure he probably wouldn't have been able to be kicked either. Idle time is probably set to some high number or off for certain clan tags.

Yeah, but A.A. is a completely different game with a completely different engine.

I guess this type of thing is possible, but I've never come across it myself.

The engine has nothing to do with being able to kick vote someone though. I think it has something to do with the way BF2CC communicates with the clients on the server. Before we dropped our rank server I tried to kick some guy for being idle, and he stayed in the BF2CC list for a long time. It did not seem to work. A couple of other admins/clan members tried kicking him and nothing. Ultimately I had to refresh the list and exit BF2CC, when I went back into the game he was gone.

There's a known issue in BF2CC that occasionally doesn't allow you to kick un-spawned players.

Oddly, sometimes if you teamswtich the player you can then kick 'em normally.
