    Anti-kick hack?

I admin the [ptg] Citymaps only server, 99% of the time things go to plan.
During the evenings when clan members come on i go to make space and kick the people with high pings / long idle times etc etc so that the people on vent can get in.

Last night I tried to kick an idler to make space and try as I might they never get kicked thinking about it this has happened a few times before.
It's not a problem with the server or admin program because if I pick someone else they are removed normally.

Before I go on a paranoia trip (:p) is there an anti kick hack or something?

I highly doubt it, but I have seen in other games I've adminned guys you would kick and it'd literally take 1-2 minutes before they were gone....sort of lag / high ping... but I'm not sure about any no-kick hack..

It happened to my friend in America's Army. Some guy came in and he was hacking and you couldnt vote ick him (which works in that game).

Yeah, but A.A. is a completely different game with a completely different engine.

I guess this type of thing is possible, but I've never come across it myself.

In AA it was because their name was constantly changing and when you kicked them and hit enter their name had changed so it didnt recognize the kick. In BF2 this is absolutely impossible and I guarantee you it wasn't a cheat.

I've asked somewhere and i was told that if a person goes idle and their screensaver comes on, then they wont be able to be kicked. it was that and maybe sumthin else, not sure.

i mean unless the person is already suspect of hackin(auto-aim and the likes), if not i doubt some guy idling would be suspect.

I have had that happen before, trying to kick an idle teammate from our server before, BFCC would count down from 10 like it always does, but when it got to 0 he was still there, couldn't kick them remotely or directly through the BFCC console. I know he wasn't hacking he was just afk, but we couldn't get rid of him, lol it was for a match too, so we had to restart the server to get him off of it.

Same thing happens to us from time to time DP. Some players you just can't seem to kick. I'm not sure if its a hack or not. ie say you are alt-tabbed out of the game before the round ends, it won't load into the next map until you alt-tab back in and I don't think you can kick a player in that state of loading a map, well that's my theory anyway however to blow that theory out of the water you can ban them though.

Hm weird, I tried kicking him via BF2CC and BF2RA, neither worked.

Did you try banning him though because we ban them when this happens then just lift the ban, the bans always seem to work.

Bah just noticed server crashed yet again..... Like the 12th time today.

I don't think your Windows screen saver would ever come on while a game is playing. I haven't ever tried it, but a game playing means the computer isn't idle, even if the human is AFK. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll have to test this when I get home if I remember.

Be glad BF2 never had the -1 cheat like Unreal did, man you'd get TK'd by the cheator and you'd get bounced from the server. Hella gay.

Doubt it, but in any case only way he could probly avoided it is if he cracked the server rcon, in most games its simple enough just like cracking any password, you bruteforce the server rcon using cmd prompt with the program executable itself, then your password list, but it would show through the server logs, and the server would no doubt have lag, and the server holder can see it, and it would take possibly 10-15 minutes to crack the rcon, but in BF2 I don't really see that happening but to tell you the truth it would be a waste of time anyway.

yeah, but why would a player be afk in the middle of a game? how long does it take to register afk.

granted everyone has to go to the toilet at some point :)

I'd be suspisious, private sector maybe

Never had a screen saver come in while I was playing, but you should be able to Alt+Tab out and get the screen saver on that way (I think, I haven't tested this claim).

I have no clue about the screen saver preventing someone from being kicked, but I will try it out tonight when I play to see if it's true.

Perhaps he was trying to get his hours up with a kit that he hates playing or something so he found a server w/o an automatic idle kick and just left his game running.
