I bought BF2 nearly a year ago, since it looked like a good game and lots of people liked it. Well...I've never played it without lagging horribly bad, to the point that its unplayable. I've tried renaming the BF2.exe file, manually updating Punkbuster in the BF2/pb folder, enabling DMZ on my firewall, I've made sure every port listed in the manual is open, etc, etc. I can run it fine on Single Player, but where's the fun in that? So, I think its somehow a lag issue, not just computer slowdown. All my other games work perfectly fine without any lag at all though(CS:S, FEAR, CoD2, WoW, GW, UT2K4).
I constantly get "There is a problem with your connection" messages when trying to play, and frequently get kicked out for having a high ping. BF2 is the ONLY thing using any bandwidth.
AMD Sempron 64 3400+ (2ghz) processor
ATI X800 256MB PCIe video card
2x 512 DDR400 RAM
3 megabyte DSL through a Netopia router and a Netgear firewall. Its directly connected to the phone line, not wireless.
Can anyone help me?
