The requirements generally go something like this, for Spec Ops for example...

15h played as Spec Ops
20 kills in a round.

Now my question is, do you not get credit for the 20 kills in a round portion of the award criteria until you have 15 hours played?

Last night I went on an absolute rampage with the assault kit... I got like 38 kills or something like that... I only have like 7 hours with the kit though... will I get credit for the IAR total or not until I get the time played requirement met?

You have to get your hours first before the in a round requirement counts.

u can get the 20 kills iar as long as u also hav the 15 hours -eg: u make up the 15 hours in game nd u can in the same game get 20 kills nd then get the badge
