    www.bfroe.com Changes.

    Hi guys,

I'm slightly concerned by the new RoE update on 30/5/06. It states that we aren't allowed to use high point servers. As if that's not bad enough, you don't actually state what a high point server is! I mean it could simply be a server running 64 player maps, but limited to 16 players, or it could be what I believe it is and the above linked with very high ticket ratios/round times. Can we please have some confirmation on what's going on?

    Thanks,

    Lord_Zorba

PS. On a very different note, during a moment of sheer stupidity, I overwrote my SF localization files. Would it be against the rules or get me banned if I use someone else's files?

you wouldnt be able to play SF online you'd get a unmodified content error so you would have to re-install it

As I understand it, the real definition of a high points server is from when the game was new. People would set the ticket count to like 1000%, so you'd get a round with say 900 or more tickets per side, hence the round lasted hours and you got serious points.

This can't be done anymore, so I understand it, thus making that definition moot.

What most people now refer to as high points servers are 64 player maps with 16 or 24 players. The rounds still last a long time but the ticket count itself is unaltered from a 64/64 server.

Anyway, that's my understanding, I could be completely wrong.

          Yup I do :)

I first saw it on bf2s: Here

          And it links to: Here

          Look at §1.8:

Players may not use or exploit game mechanisms to artificially boost their score ("stats padding") and Server administrators may not knowingly allow or encourage this activity on their servers.

This would include but not limited to:
          § Knife-Pistol-Revive
          § Knife-Pistol only Servers
          § Knife only Servers
          § High Points Servers
          § Infantry only Servers
§ No Artillery or Armour Servers
§ Using Vehicles removed from battlefield for purposes of artificially inflating points
§ Turning boats upside down and repairing
          § Glitching inside buildings.
§ Modifying game files for vehicles and weapons.
§ Items not included in this list would be up to EA & DICE to interpret.
§1.9 Players may not Impersonate or abuse BF2RS ADMINS.
you wouldnt be able to play SF online you'd get a unmodified content error so you would have to re-install it
Do you mean by changing them? If so that definitely won't happen, but by using someone else's defaults?

If high point servers are now against the ROE, they need tp up the ticket rate. Seems odd though, I thought it was fine as the spm was the same... Perhaps IndianScout could clarify.

Re. The localisation files I don't think it would matter, you won't get a modified content error as localisation files aren't included. Modified BF2 localisation files are posted on here and no-one says anything.

I know but I need someone's SF defaults as back-ups incase anything goes wrong and I dunno if they're tailormade to the CD key or something...

Just out of curiosity, would this one:

§ Using Vehicles removed from battlefield for purposes of artificially inflating points

Include people sat in vehicles or lying down out of the way in order to gain time for their badges etc? Does this count as stat padding? They aren't padding for points but they're certainly padding for time in order to get badges. They're also taking up spots on a server which could go to people who actually want to play. Would this be a kickable offence under the ROE?

High points servers have been in the ROE for a long time, it just hasn't been included in the recent update, just looks like someone only recently noticed it.

High points servers aren't 16 players on 64 player maps. Those servers are fine as long as the game is played as intended. All ranked servers have the tickets hard coded so they can't be changed.

The definition of a high point server is basically not playing the game as intended. This may include take Karkand for example that the hotel must always remain as a USMC base. This means there is no ticket bleed thus the game can run for a very long time if there is 16 players on 64 player maps. Knife/pistol servers are also high point servers as medics can get a helluva lot of points by reviving people and again they usually make the USMC always have the hotel flag.

we had a high point server,64 map size on karkand with no time limit and limited to 24 players.

now some games would go on for near enough an hour with no dodgy play involved is this ok?

and having high scoring in your server name is now not possible on a multiplay server as theyve said ea have banned certain words.

Well if EA banned high points servers, it just wouldn't do to have "high points server" in the name, lol. Understandable.

I've seen nothing to indicate 64 maps with 16 or 24 players is not allowed. Hopefully Indian Scout or someone else from BFROE will pop thier head in here and give us a definite answer.

They don't actively police looking for servers that break the ROE, many pistol servers exist.

I haven't heard anything about server names like that not being allowed. There is nothing in the ROE stating that therefore its allowed.

For more explanation checkout www.bf2rankedservers.com and look in the 2 ROE discussion threads for comments from IS and other mods. Or go directly to www.bfroe.com and ask Indian Scout yourself.
