What res are you running?

I'd say a little more power wouldm't hurt you at all. I believe the 7600 asked for a minimum of 400w PSU, and the x800xl is just a bit less power I believe.

Also, a corrupted windows can cause problems, get a proper reformat immedietly.

CPUz will tell ytou if your sticks are running in dual channel or not. On a NF7 board, the two ram slots close together are the dual channel slot if memory serves me correctly. (my old NF7s now resides in my little sisters computer) Check the mobo manual.

Yar. What ^^ he (Laike) said. Reformatting and reinstalling windows will also rule out conflicts because of previous video drivers that may be hanging around.

If you're worried, Best Buy has an unofficial *cough, cough* loaner policy: you buy a component on credit card, see if it fixes your computer, then return it and buy something from Newegg.

I'm running on 1024x768@85hz... Oh goddamnit... What if it doesn't install the windows correctly again? It asked something about the system type... and I could choose someting C410i or "OTHER", and I chose that C410i thingie, I don't remember was it that. I couldn't choose other, it just said error.

Please dont even attempt to reinstall windows unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing, there is MUCH more to a system setup than just installing windows, ffs a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, you've been warned.

Half the reason you're having the trouble you are is because you obviously know (don't mean to sound hostile here)"Jack" about your rig.

Take some time to learn or get someone who knows their mobo drivers from their a ss to do it for you.

I do know exactly what I'm doing, and I tested and it worked, it didn't ask those thingies, it's the ACPI. I'll format the comp again and see if it works. By the way, why does it say to me when I try to activate the windows that "The limit of activation has exceeded" and I have to call to microsoft everytime I have to activate it?

Activation limit is a security feature introduced a long time back, a bummer if you have to do a lot of reinstalls, but then again if you were installing properly in the 1st place you'd never have to, sorry but having to keep reinstalling is the noobs way into a world of pain, still hopefully you'll learn & in the future become a wiser & more responsible pc owner

Could you tell me the steps after formatting? I have the mobo drivers and the critical updates for windows in CD's, I just want to have Msn, mirc, and my games installed with the best perfomance I can get. Format -> Windows install -> Offline updates -> online updates -> games and other programs. I have followed these steps everytime, but it obviously doesn't work this time.

EDIT: I also would like to know that can defragging of disk cause perfomance loss? PerfectDisk 7.0 actually makes my disks fragile, and I have to fix them with windows one. Do I need to defragment the disk even when it is little fragiled? Does it affect the perfomance? What optimization tools do I have to use to get the best perfomance, or do I have to use any? Heeeeeeelppp........ =(

The secret is in how you do the install of windows, are you just loading the cd in while windows is running to start the reinstall or do you boot (as should be the way) from your cd drive before windows starts & then begin the process?

You need to go into your pc's bios & set the 1st boot device as your cd or dvd drive, then start the process & follow the on screen prompts, make sure you do a full format of the drive (option at start) & not a fast/quick format

Though a full format may take up to 30mins depending on drive size, but well worth the wait.

Google the whole thing for more detail, good luck, too drunk to typppeee more.

What have you been smoking??? New Hard drive??? Its just a driver problem, download driver cleaner professional here

ATI:
1. Unplug nic card or modem from net or disconnect
2. Remove ATI driver from add/remove programs then remove the control panel from add/remove programs
3. Reboot into safe mode (F8 during boot up)
4. On reboot into safe mode WinXP SP1/SP2 will auto detect and install drivers. Just let it do its thing. If you can cancel out of the auto install hardware wizard then skip the rest and run Driver Cleaner! If you can NOT cancel out of auto detect wizard then...
5. Navigate to device manager->display adapter->uninstall and/or remove ATI display adapter but do not reboot
6. Disable any AntiVirus Software (If you don't disable is than it could give trouble)
7. Run Cab Cleaner (not needed, but recommended)
8. Run Driver Cleaner
9. Empty recycle bin and reboot
10. Install the new drivers and control panel

nVidia:
1. Unplug nic card or modem from net or disconnect
2. Remove nvidia from add/remove programs
3. Reboot into safe mode (F8 during boot up)
4. On reboot into safe mode WinXP SP1/SP2 will auto detect and install drivers. Just let it do its thing. If you can cancel out of the auto install hardware wizard then skip the rest and run Driver Cleaner! If you can NOT cancel out of auto detect wizard then...

I have formatted the computer by putting the Windows CD in, then boot with it and go to the drive thingie, and I remove the drives, then make new ones and... I can't make it on english, but it kinda formats, it prepares the disks, and there is a fast/quick and another option, I'll always take the longer option.

Am I doing right? I did this the last time I formatted, but it just didn't work out... No it would, and I'll do it again. So, in a nuthsell:

1. Windows XP installation cd in
2. Boot
3. go to the drive option in the install program, remove the drives, make new ones and prepare C:\ drive for windows install with the longer option?
4. Install windows and prepare the D:\ drive with the longer option
5. Install critical windows updates & F-secure without the firewall (I use windows SP2 one, takes up too much system memory)
6. Go to windows update and download updates
7. Get SP2
8. Install Catalyst 6.5 (Do I need to run driver cleaner things after formatting? :O)
9. Install spyware doctor, ccleaner, easycleaner and scan the computer with them
10. Install the other programs?

Oh, and would 5.3 catalyst drivers be too old? It's in the driver package what came with the card, so 6.5 or 5.3?

So where in the list did you install your mobo drivers?

I once installed winxp on an (older, VIA chipset, ... not my machine ;-)) machine and I needed to install the mobo drivers BEFORE I did all the windows updates. Basically if I did not do that, it would corrupt writing or reading from the hd.

Some are suggesting not to quick format (but slow full format), care to explain exactly why?
EDIT: I checked, quick format if you're sure your disk is ok. Full format if you want a little extra checking.

I can't install mobo drivers without DirectX 9, why? So should I install DirectX 9 with BF2 install, and then mobo drivers and continue to windows update?

And, should I be fine with the 5.3 catalyst?
