    Snipers and commanders

Im a avid sniper in Battlefield 2. Before you call me a ***** that likes to shoot from far away, Im usual on the front lines capping flags, so bite me.

Whenever I do manage to cover our boys moving in to cap a flag I tend to have a enemy commander dropping vehicles on my head...funny thing is that it's never killed me. Usually they simply offer me a ride home.

The point of this thread is to voice my frustration with commanders out there. Im also a avid grunt. I'll take the spec ops quite often and when I need a ride home ASAP the commander wastes his car drop on ONE sniper.

    What's everyone's take on this?

    Re: Snipers and commanders

I was on Daqing Oilfields taking out their jets with AT rockets when the commander dropped a vehicle on me and killed me. The way I look at it, it was better than wasting an entire artillery round on one guy. I would probably have done the same thing.

I came back as sniper, hid near some trees so a vehicle couldn't land on me, found him hiding in the hangar and put one between his eyes.

Its a tool available to the commander. If one sniper is staying just out of the action, but close enough to pick up kills/kill assists pegging the guys trying to cap/defend, then he earns either cartillery or artillery. I've dropped arty on one guy to get an easy kill and shy away from tk's, its nice to be able to do the same with a car as well.

Would you rather the CO drop arty into the main battle, pick up 4-5 TK's, and inevitably leave someone on the other side alive and free to cap the flag?

In my 8v8 last night we tried capping their main - no one there. Their Helo came back to kill our guy, which he did, but the CO had fired arty as well. While the helo was capping the arty tk'd him. With that flag white we capped the middle flag (Daging16) and killed the last 2 guys ftw. My point - be careful where u drop arty.

Juding by your being ****ed off, it sounds like the CO did his job lol.

cartillery is a mixed bag...if you don't kill the bloke you gave him a free ride and 50 cal. i found it useful to drop inbetween an enemy tank and my SO trying to sneak up on him to c4 him, adds a little cover and distraction.
I have killed and been killed by cartilery.
I like it's addition to the game, often ill be in or have a teamate in the situation of being away from the battle and airdrop, oknow i can rejoin the fight...

Believe it or not i have never been killed by a car drop, or even flown into one. There were some enemy commanders who give it a try on me, but I always look up, and then use it for our team, Thank you enemy commander to help us win

Yea Ive never been killed by a car either. I'm saying its a serious waste of resources. Help the team by killing ONE sniper or help the team get to an objective quicker?

SOmetimes I like to play tricks on the enemies when im commander. If a flag was being taken over i place an arty strike, then place a vehicle drop after i chose the strike. Now the guys taking over the flag will hop in the vehicle and use the 50 cal. they will think "haha u stupid commander give us a free vehicle" then the arty strike comes killing the man in the vehicle, THose vehicles are less armored and will be destroyed quicker in the open, usually when infantry take over a flag, they will get in some cover, like if you are taking over train acciden in Karkand, chances are you must be hiding behind the crates and red barrels-just kidding also you may be hiding under the train, if they are out in the open theyare more exposed to the arty.

Heres an idea! Why not get another sniper and take him out. Theres nothing i like more than to go up against another sniper. Plus if the sniper dealing the damage is like me he would have moved before you could artil him, unless your using the gay scan thing where he/she wouldn't know it was comin'.

EXACTLY. Paint me a target and I'll hunt. 9/10 times when a sniper is spotted, he dies within 2 minutes.

Instead of wasting resources give me a target and let me hunt him down. :)

It's when your trying to defend a flag and are unsuccessful, if I see things going bad for my side I'll start to draw back a bit and hide in the hills or in some cover about 100m away and start sniping at them, it really ****s me off when our commander drops a vehicle beside me, like waving a big flag.......

I spot snipers all the time, and at times they get killed. But since most snipers are lone wolves, the idea of ordering one to get another is fruitless.

I drop arty / carty usually as fast as it recharges, and I try to stay away from areas where I'd pick up heavy TKs and hurt my team. So, if its a car on their CO, arty on one sniper, w/e, its all about the win. As far as a car to that lone SO guy in their main, well, I've already blown up their arty w/cars, and once u blow up the uav/scan their CO will come looking for u. Kill him, something will respawn, so gank their vehicle as well...

One sniper can hold up a team, and jeeps are AT magnets. If you are a sniper, the last thing you want is a car, unless you have an enemy squad coming after you.

Another thing, when the enemy commander drops a car on a sniper, even if it misses it is like dropping a flare on you, it points out your position to all enemy soldiers, even those not on comms with the commander.

while the car itslef may not have crushed you, remember: if no one enters for 10 seconds, it blows up. Aslo, as online00 pointed out, it marks your position. thirdly, if an enemy At sees a gray vehicle disapear from his minimap, hes just gonna wait to see you and then shoot you. If a car is dropped near you, run.
