I can't see a thing when playing. Is it this dark for everyone? My monitor is as bright as it will go, and I see no option for brightness inside the game. Am I missing something?

Video card settings, turn up brightness, but then again first post your specs before anyone can help you, and wrong thread. -

eh...I bet you what you're seeing is exactly how it's supposed to be.
Several corners and allyways in this game are indeed very dark. This is the effect of static shadows, but players can easily gain a MAJOR Advantage over users with graphics on maxed becuase with "Lighting" on low or medium(?), These very dark static shadows are completely removed, and dark, black areas are transformed into amazingly bright, vibrant, contrasted areas.
I personally was flabberghasted by the difference, but Just can't stand the terrible look.Comment

It honestly is pretty cheap. The difference is night and day, litterally.
But I'm not really whining, since I know I have the ability to turn it off as well. Wish they would make those static textures, really static, and not simply optional for "Lighting."Comment

I have all my settings maxed out (inc Lighting and Dynamic Light) and BF2 is quite bright, however on my other PC BF2 (With lighting on med and Dynamic Lighting on Low) is way too dark, BF2 stops you from changing your brightness by using your monitor for SF reasons, but to get around this i turned up my brightness (on my old 6200 card's nvidia control panel) in "Colour Correction" to 115%. Bright enough and should solve your prob, but a little annoying though.Comment

I used to have a bad monitor that had nearly no brightness. I didn't realize it for a while, but once it got to the point where I had to buy nightvision goggles every round in countertrike I caught on.Comment

So I swapped out monitors. It's brighter now, and the screens in Windows look fine, but when the PC is booting the post screen and the Windows logo screen are all jacked up. They're shaped like an hourglass, and I can't change them.
I went into the bios, and while in there tried to adjust the monitor settings, but they don't seem to change while I'm not in Windows. Any ideas? Once it boots it looks fine, but the first part bugs the hell out of me.
