    DICE impersonation??

I admin a BF2 server, today someone with the alais ''[DICE]Ian'' joined in and began asking us to send server details and whatnot to some site I cant remember specifically. I told him to ask such questions in the forum, so he signed up but never posted. I kicked him for ''EA/DICE Impersonation" since I really dont understand why EA/Dice would contact us through the game itself [DICE]Ian later rejoined as if nothing ever happend and began playing, later inthe round he began asking questions again and I reminded him to post in the forum, he said ''Due to NDA, I cant, but I will privately email/msg'' So I told him to privately email/msg the server provider with any problems, and this is where we sit now..

Legitamite or not, I thought I had read something on here about people with [DICE] tags up to no good and just need clarification, thanks..

Also the email he used to sign up on the forums is @dice.canada or some such...

You almost fell for it it seems. DICE would never contact you in this method nor would they ask you for "server details" (i'm guessing he wanted your login info). If you have a ranked server then they probably would have had access to your info anyway and just contacted you by phone.

Did you tell him to stop dicking around playing games and spend some time writing a decent patch?

                BF2rankedservers.com-user not found

If you don't find them on these forums they are probably not going to join the game. So it was most likely an imposter. You can always email ea and ask them directly

Well the simple fact is no Dice employee would ever add a tag informing people he is from Dice.

The last thing anyone from Dice would want is people to know they are from Dice. The problems you get when people become aware of such things are incredible. The amount of people hassling you for information etc.

                    Re: DICE impersonation??

                    Here's my Dice Impersonation:

"Ha Ha, I'm a Dice Programmar. I put out this video game and each patch I want to loose customers, so I spend less time fixing bugs and secretly slip more in. What we're trying to do is get eveyrone to quit by the next patch so they'll all have to move to 2142 - More monies! I also only listen to the nubs that get raped when it comes to balancing so all the vets (who we know will purchase our next game) get tired of the current state of affiars on BF2."

Well it turns out to be legit, Hypernia and DICE both confirmed, evidently they need the dump files when the servers crash due to 1.3's glory..

Surely they have other ways and means to get this info?!

I guess it goes to show the professionalism of the Dice Canada team not very professional in my opinion, very first thing I would have done is email the server admin...

It still sounds odd to me. They (Dice) have your E-Mail address and could contact you that way and supply a phone contact number. To me it seems very unprofessional to contact you in the way that they did. It leaves the way open for almost anyone to pretend to be a Dice employee and collect critical info about the ranked servers. Even though the contact seems to be legit, I would do everything I could to independantly varify it. Just put in a phone call to Dice Canada and ask to speak to the person who contacted you. You should be able to varify the contact and be able to take the needed actions at that time. Either reporting the faker or supplying the needed info.
I really hope they are planning on fixing a few of the problems the game has, but who knows. . . . . . . .Red
