    Idiot needs help

Ok I am a complete idiot with this map/mod maker tool EA touted as incredible user friendly. When it first came out i spent hours trying to use it only to bang my head on my monitor and give up.
So now a year later I want to try again. I was pretty good with the BF42 map maker.
I don't want to reskin or modify anything I just want to make some training maps for my clan.
So I figure the easiest thing to do is open an existing map like Mastur 16 player version and edit it, deleting and replacing buildings, vehicles, ect.
But I seem to be too stupid to even do this, my self esteem is sinking...
Is there a guide for idiots to do this?

It's actually easier to create a new one from scratch.

First make sure you d/l the latest editor from January located HERE
Then Download the tutorial from EA, located HERE
It is easy to follow and will help you set-up your editor properly for your first time using it. I printed mine and used it for reference many times.

It will help you make a basic level from scratch in about an hour.

Using existing maps has it's own little quirks and is more of an advanced mappers level task, not a novice level. I know you would think it would be easier but it isn't. You have to understand what you are looking at when you open them, and if you haven't made a map... you won't understand it.

Before you finish off your map, at some point you will want to generate lightmaps for all your objects, when this time comes (long time from now) you will need to download the lightmaps files from HERE

Mapping is a very time consuming process, tweaking and checking and testing and making sure everything is exactly right.

Yeah January 04 is the most current one and bf editor forums are great for answering a lot of questions, their database is much more extensive than the one here.... plus it's all about the editor so you can't go wrong :)
