Some good advice on Video Settings :)

Right, heres a tip. Use it, dont use it, its upto you.

I have a Gainwood 7800GTX golden Sample, Opteron 175 and 2GB Crucial Ballistix PC4000 so as you can expect i can play the game on full detail @ 1600x1200 but i dont. i used to but i have my settings on as follows and ill tell you why,

Resolution : 1600x1200@72hz - Maximium my monitor can do, Get this high as possible is your best choice
Terrain : LOW - Uses up power when theres no need and enemys get harder to spot!!!
Effects : LOW - Absolutly pointless, Again, makes it harder spot enemys. Power hungry as well over low & high is a killer
Geometary : HIGH - Allows enemys to be seen at longer distances. Which is handy!!!!
Texture : LOW - More/longer grass etc. Harder to see enemy any higher than low
Lighting : LOW - Above low it becomes VERY HARD to spot people in buildings etc.
Dyn. Shad : LOW - Either off or low, Low tends to allow you see shadows of people on roofs :)
Dyn. Light : OFF - Power hungry and makes things glare, Again, this really disadvantages you seeing the enemy
Anti-Anil : 4x - without saying, a more sharper, clearer image atr longer distance.
Text Filt : HIGH - Same as Anti-Anil, just improving textures at longer distance
View Distance : 100% - This goes without saying!!!! But for the idiots, ALLOWS YOU SEE FURTHER lol

These are proven setting and work well. One more thing (if you know what im on about) is setting Anti-Anil & Anti-Filtering in windows. THeres many programs that allow you to set this outside of BF2. nHancer for Nvidia, not sure for ATI. Sure some1 will post. nHancer (or you are useing third party drivers already) will allow you to do this. The point is you can put Anti-Anilising on 16x Supersampling and Anti-Filtering on 16x as well. Way above the x4 within BF2. This allows for a far superior image in BF2 and is sharp and clear. This however uses ALOT!!! of power.

ALl id advise is get your setting to max within BF2, if you find your still getting 80+ FPS start to play with Anti-ALis, and filt in windows.

Hope this helps and i guarentee you you will be picking up more kills with these settings

Tried it and loved it @ 1280*1024 runs very smooth now on my 6600 gt: 60-70 fps

With effects on that settings you won't be able to see contrails off a plane. Which makes dogfighting/using AA really hard. Contrails only appear if effects is set to medium or high.

Dynamic lighting helps you see the muzzle flash, especially helpful against snipers.

actually just use Ati Tray Tools, it's the best thing you can use for ATI drivers.

How can I force my resolution up to that level? I don't think the settings in the game allow me to go that high.

Indeed. On high its looks stunning but makes it so hard to play. Im not fooled by nice graphics and can see the game for what it is. A mess at the moment with 1.3 lol

Didnt know about the muzzle flash for dynamic lighting, will set that to low and see how it goes. Cheers for that

When you are a JET flyer then effects must be at high otherwise it's impossible/hard to track enemy plane.

no point for me, i love eye candy, no point on having a good system if your not going to use it to it's best ability. I cant stand low, i'd rather play PS2.

lol, i am using the power of my system, with AS @ 8x +AF @ 16x. Cant get 16x AS my fps gets stuck at 45fps and gets as low as 20. No matter what i do. 1x 7800 GTX that is. 2x 7900gt/gtx's will get you 32x on 1600x1200 such is the power needed for high AS+AF
