Possible corrupted incredimental patch - Cause of server crashes!?

Hello all.

I have been told that it might be a corrupted incredimental patch downloaded through the EA Downloader, that causes the server's to crash.

So what i want everyone that have done this, is do go download the FULL 1.3 patch from another location. (e.g this site)

Reinstall if needed.

I am telling you this to help prevent the server crashes, even though it is not for shure this is the cause.

If you think about it, a server can run for hours and hours w/o a crash,
then all of a sudden it goes down. This makes me think that a client with a corrupted install/patch joins the server.

Yesterday my server went down 6-7 times in just 6 hours,
and the other day it ran non-stop for 12. So it must be something like this going on.

Things like this are good to bring to people's attention.
It drives me batty when people moan and groan about how much EA sucks when they could have resolved their problems themselves.

Still, there does seem to be a RAM leak going on atleast on the client end. If there's a leak in servers aswell, that could cause crashes. I also suspect that it's not clearing RAM properly right now. This is a hunch based on personal observations.

It would jus be nice if DICE acknowledged that theres a problem with the patch, the whole silent treatment is a little annoying. At least if they confirmed there was a problem people wouldn't be forced to spend hours reinstalling/repatching.

Unfortunatly, they can't.
Under the agreement they have with EA, they aren't allowed to release any information that EA doesn't aprove. EA doesn't aprove information that could possibly make them look bad...
Kinda funny how not releasing that info does make them look bad, eh?

pssst you need to update the server name info in your sig(not running 1.22
unfortunately) its now 1.3

Back on topic:
That would be interesting if the server crashes are caused by people joining with a corrupted patch install. 4 crashes in a 1 hour period we had a few days ago.. The thing is if its a memory leak, the server doesn't stay up long enough to use all its RAM, its guaranteed to crash before this happens so this theory may make some sense.

I also urge anyone who has used the incremental patch, to patch again with the full 1.3 who plays on our server maybe it will do nothing, maybe it will mean less crashes, heck it can't hurt!

I agree about the RAM leak... After a few hours of playing, going back to windows takes forever... Strange thing is, the game runs smooth, but back in windows it soooo slooow...
Dont think there is any problems with that serverside though...

My belief is it doesnt mater how u patch or fresh installs

personally im on full patch with fresh format and its the same
people stuffing with there firewalls or patches.

But its just bad patching i think, I really dont see how they could miss this in testing

Indeed, i doubt there would be all this talk of boycotts or ignoring AF/BF2142 if there was simply an announcement saying 'We know theres a problem and we're working on it'. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot.

well its hardly good marketing to put anything negative out there thats why companies have quality control and testing(all products)before release
maybe the engine is just no good?i can smell the lemons:p

We all know the way they work by now, and i am shure they are working their asses off trying to adress the issues...

But since the situation is as it is, try to spread the word in every way you can.
(For server admins, try to put some words about it in the server message)
