The thing is I only have a PCI slot on my MB.

GeForce FX 5500 would probably work better. Possibly the best PCI card available:

I would definitely look carefully at the rest of your system specs before buying a new PCI card though.

Your PC was made in the Bronze Age?

PCI doesn't mean it's old. Could be a used server he got cheap. Good CPU/memory but junk video and no AGP slot.

no it would have been bought from pc world as a £299 pc with intergrated gfx.
thats what so many people do, "i just want an internet and word pc" 3 months later, waaaaaaaa i cant play the latest game on it... lol

If I remember correctly, the Radeon 9200 series will only work if your particular card is AGP. I'm surprised that your PCI 9250 ever worked at all.

Radeon 9250 might be integrated with AGP; just no AGP slot. More likely to be a cheap PC in that case; recent Dell servers use integrated Radeon 7000.

i think i can answer your question. go look at the system req for bf2. it clearly states that ati 9250 is not a supported gc. only 8500, 9550 n above is supported. dont ask me why if 8500 is supported 9250 is not supported but its a fact. go buy another gc, i recommend nvidia 6k or 7k series cos they support dx9.

It also doesn't support FX 5200 but it still works so the "requirements" aren't really requirements. That's just the minimum SUPPORTED configuration. AGP R9200 and R9250 are also known to work; just the PCI versions apparently don't. And, as the OP already stated, he only has a PCI slot so obviously he can't use an nVidia 7k card and only the 6200 in the 6k series which could be slower than a good FX 5500.
