Re: Do you have a microphone?

I just bought a new Logitech Desktop Mic. I used to CRINGE when I would hear people with mic's use real life battle lingo. I would think to myself, how nerdy you must be to actually think you're in battle? But now I can't wait to talk like that when my mic arrives from eBay! hehe

          VOIP in BF2 is key.

Even if you have just 2 people working together with mics, you can totally own.

          However...VOIP comes at a cost.

I've been squads where people just start yelling and swearing because someone isn't playing up to their standards. I've also been in a squad where someone called another player a 'towel head' because he had an middle eastern accent.

That comment earned him a G3 round to the head.

He left the server shortly after.

comments like that deserve a G3 round in real life. Sorry but i got no time for racists, and especially given current situations, thats beyond even a bad attempt at a joke.

I use my mic to express my dissatisfaction with my poor performance to fellow squadies...

I'm in a clan, so yes. Plantronics headset :)

Also use it for VoIP in both CSS and BF2. Commanding is MUCH better when you have VoIP enabled. But most of my mic use is in Ventrillo on a nightly basis, where we usually have 6-12 playing bf2 and 5+ playing CSS.

I have a mic but it does not work inside Battlefield 2. The voice setup wizard in Windows barfs on me. Strange thing is that it works ok in TeamSpeak.

I had one until a few days ago when it toasted so going to get a new one. However, when you get a squad that all works together using VoIP it makes even getting your butt kicked that much more fun.

Re: Do you have a microphone?

I had a logitec USB that worked on voip, but it shut off the analog output of my soundcard (which I couldnt bypass) which is a big nono when its connected to a 7.1 system with a multi-thousand watt car subwoofer on the sub-preouts for extra lows. if I had to choose between having a total game immersion experience, or being able to communicate, but having to listen to even moderately decent sounding headphones... sorry... the total immersion wins every time.

I now have a regular mic... but I cant get it to work ingame. The VOIP setup works just fine, but ingame it doesnt work at all.

Nope, don't use a mic. I just yell at me friends when we lan. If someone talks to me ingame I'll use the voice commands or chat.

Dunno if anyone said this, as I don't have time to read the whole thread but...

Spend a bit of extra cash & buy a Medusa 5.1 Pro Gamer headset/mic. That thing is in-effing-credible.

Mind you, you need a sound card/onboard sound that supports 5.1 surround. If you do, you'll be amazed. It does take a bit of getting used to hearing a jeep or something else approach from a long ways away & at times I think a sound is closer than it really is, but I'd never go back.

Plus the mic is completely adjustable & removable, the headphones are super comfy & built to last.
