[edit] Boots i just read your post after i replied, what a way to come off as an ass... how can someone "sound" 14 by typing? I'm guessing his main language is not english and his wording might be wrong. I just dont see the need for your type of reply when he is just being overall nice and introducing himself while asking a few questions to get him started.

depending on where he lives Gaming magizines will proberly have the latest BF2 patch on one of their disks else you can try EA Downloader

He bought me the game for christmas, didn't make an illegal copy of it, I said "copy" - That can refer to an actual game you know...

I just came here to ask a few questions, and I'm getting flamed for no reason. Look, if you haven't got something useful to post, please, just don't bother, I know you want to get your precious post counts up, but post count isn't everything.

Venny, basically, what I'm saying is I just got BF2 (well, I got it at christmas, but just started playing it), and I wanted some tips for getting started.

I don't mean to be rude, but:

You sound like you're 14, you have an illegal copy, you said however 11ty times, and (wtf) you download corrupt files because you download them too quickly?

You appear to be a NAL. (Noob at life)

Is usually what a 13/14 year old would say themselves, firstly, if you read, I said he sent me my copy, did I say illegal copy? No... He sent me the game that he purchased for me for christmas, secondly, there is no word "11ty", and don't go making up your own abbreviations, if you can't be bothered to type out "Noob at life", why did you both abbreviate it type it out...

Also, I only said however 3 times... So please learn to count.

Anyway, thanks to those who didn't flame, I was worried that all of Battlefield 2 would be full of idiots once I saw some of these posts >_>

If anyone wants to help me, could you please tell me whether I need the last patch to gain global score?

You don't need the latest patch, but the number of servers you can join will be severely limited, and you will have to follow the old ranking system (meaning 1,500 points til your first unlock, 10,500 to your second, 25,000 to your third, etc)

Anyway, thing is, I played a game, but I didn't come out with any score or ranking change after it, even though I got a few kills, became the commander, and got a few points in the game...

Or was I on one of the newer servers or something? Or is that not possible?

You have to play on RANKED servers, with the little rank symbol next to it on the server list. I'd be suprised if you find any ranked servers running 1.00, though =/

What's the ranked server icon look like, any chance of a pic? Oh and, what if I updated to 1.1 or whatever the next one is? And then tommorow to 1.2, and 1.3 the next day, would that work?

Most any post you make on these forums will be flamed, they're not the best BF2 forums.... You need the latest patch which is 1.3 to play on ranked servers :)

- You can get the latest patch through EA Downloader, or via totalbf2's frontpage.

And hightow, I only get copies of games that arn't in the shop anymore, I mean, games are quite cheap these days.

To answer your question, yes, you need 1.3 to play on the majority of ranked servers and get a global score. You can get the full patch from here:

1.3 Full Patch (438mb)

The majority, so if all else fails, I could still play 1.0 and get score, but only if I can find a ranked server... That sounds ok... Anyway, like I said, usually most files I download over 100mb go corrupt. I'm not entirely sure why, but they do. However, I'm going to try :P
