    Help Help Help!!!

Hi all my disk is cracked again, i have contacted EA and hopefully they will give me a free one as i only replaced it 4 months ago the only reason i can find for the disk cracking is the cases they are in now i aint putting it in its case ill find a paper wallet thing old games came in. Anyway the disk sometimes does work and i can run setup on my new pc but when it gets to 4bars it comes up with an error:

    Error Code: -5005 : 0x80070017
    Error Information:
    >Kernel\KernelMedia.cpp (95)
    >Kernel\KernelMedia.cpp (95)
    >SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1654)
    pAPP:Battlefield 2(TM)
    PVENDORICE
    PGUID:04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B
    $10.50.0.125
    @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180

Anyone know how to fix it but i think it might be to do with the slight crack of the disk:P

I have tried to copy over all the files from my other pc where bf2 is installed but game crashes when i click join server.

    Re: Help Help Help!!!

Seems like a cracked disk, although i can't fully understand that error message. Try running a different cd (like a music-cd) in your cd-rom, then take it out after about an hour. Check if it is the CDROM that is making those scratches in your disk. If it is, then replace the cd-rom. If not, its something else that has scratched your disk (as you said in the post, the cover for an instance).

Try googling the precice error message, and see what you find.

Go to the official bf2 homepage, and press support in the upper right corner. Create an account, then send the error message to ea and see what they can do about it.

              Re: Help Help Help!!!

EA have replyed about my disk:
              Hi,

I am afraid that this damage is not due to a fault on the disc. As such, a replacement disc will carry the same charge of £7.50. We can provide you with a new case to store the game in, to help prevent this damage occurring again.

Electronic Arts will replace damaged media, current stocks allowing. The original media needs to be returned with a cheque, Eurocheque or postal order for £7.50 per disk (for PC titles), £10.00 per disk (for console titles) and £3.00 for a Manual, made payable to Electronic Arts Ltd.

Please remember to include full details of the defect, your name, address and if possible a daytime telephone number where we can contact you. It is recommended you use some form of recorded or guaranteed delivery, we cannot be held responsible for software that does not arrive with us.

              Our address is:

              Electronic Arts UK Ltd
              Customer Services
              PO Box 181
              Chertsey
              Surrey
              KT16 0YL

              Best Regards,

              So i replyed:
So even though i have already paid for a disk in january you are telling me i have to pay again although it is not my fault all i have done is take the disk out and put it back when not in use and your telling me becuase i have done the right thing by replacing the disk i have to pay £7.50 again. This is stupid am i expected to replace the disk every 4 months??? Im just doing what your meant to do with the disk when im done push the cd in place and when i want to take it out push down in the middle and dont rip the cd out of the case! The only place the disk has been is in my DVD drive and then back in the case.

WOULD SOMEONE LIKE TO TELL ME WHAT IM DOING WRONG?? i cant see nout im doing what should be done with the disk
