Ever since I have installed V1.3 I haven't been able to get into, or play more than five minutes of ANY match. It always closes, and I find myself right back at the desktop. Not only this, but Special Forces doesn't work, and I get some error about lightning effects when I try to play that! What the hell is happening?

I keep getting lost connection issues, but I`ve only had one CTD after installing and a reboot fixed that. Did you change anything else, ie vid card drivers? -

You should go to the tech support forums and take a look around in there.
Many people reported problems like this after the patch, but most have been able to resolve them.Comment

try lowering ur video settings maybe? i used to crash a lot (1 time per roughly 4 hours) but i got an additional 512 M of ram today, bringing me up to a gig, and i now have significantly less lag and no crashes. i have also noticed a connection between picking up a kit and the game crashing, might be a bug or might just be ur systemComment

To be honest, I don't get them to the extent you clame, but for sure I am getting alot more CTD's, specifically when I finish loading, and hit "Join Game".Comment

Just an FYI... I had my first post 1.3 mystery CTD last night. Twice. I rebooted and everything was fine. I need to do more checking, but I suspect there might be an issue with BF2 not clearing RAM properly. This would be especially bad if you have been surfing these forums for awhile then go to play.

Well, I just finished a match (Wake Island 2007, V1.3) and nothing went wrong. I changed my settings to low, so that may have worked. It could be a simple coincidence, though.Comment

Nope. Sounds like what I suggested above. RAM clearing/paging issues. By setting your details to a lower level, you reduce the amount of RAM those elements consume.
A cheep trick to save a little extra RAM is to use english only voiceovers. By doing that you cut the RAM needed by in-game voice in half. It's not a bad chunk of savings.Comment
