How can I run two versions of BF2?

On another forum I saw a guy post instructions on how to run two versions of the game, like 1.22 and 1.3. I tried it and can get both games to load (tho I am trying it with v. 1.1 and 1.3) but only 1.3 can connect to the accnt server.
His instruct, which I did, was to copy bf2 v. 1.1 into a separate folder and then patch to 1.3.
Does anyone know what else has to be done to connect v 1.1 to the account server? Right now it just hangs the pc and it has to be restarted. Thanks in advance.

You have to own 2 HDD s with 2 OS system . Other wise it will mess up your registry files and you wont able to run BF2.

Actually it should be doable w/ some batchfiles that rename/move your mydocs/bf-folder and update your
registry to whichever version you're playing.

You just need to
- install bf and patch it to 1.22, ( installdir c:\bf2\ )
- export the correct registry part to a .reg file, ( bf2_122.reg )
- copy the mydocs/bf2 dir , ( copy to mydocs\bf2_122 )
- copy the bf install folder to e.g. x:\bf2_122\ ,
- mod the registry file ( bf2_122.reg )to have the InstallDir pointing there

- then patch to 1.3
- Export Reg again ( bf2_13.reg )
- copy mydocs/bf2 again (mydocs\bf2_13\ )


Now when you start the 1.22 version have the patch merge the bf2_122.reg file into registry[1], copy the mydocs\bf2_122 over mydocs\bf2 and run the game. Ditto for 1.3 .

Im not sure how much separation the mydocs\bf2 - folder needs but wehn you keep own copy for each version it's less likely to bomb because of any version incompabilities.


[1] or you can do it by hand by dblcliking the reg file .. i cant remember how to batch the regmerge And of course with registry, as always , if you're not sure about what you're doing you're better off not doing it.
