Unable to join ANY server!

Yes, I searched. So, I downloaded 1.3 and patched it. It works fine. Then when I try joining a server I load it up and it verifies and everything, but once I hit join game, it crashes to desktop. And whenever I join, the server name does not appear, instead :|)( shows up, or something like that. And all the info such as rounds per map is 0. Damn.....and I thought people were exaggerating about how horrible 1.3 was, I guess I was wrong

Hit ESC instead of clicking the join button. Half the time I click the join button and it does nothing. It doesn't crash but it doesn't join the game either.

All the info relating to the server setup is all missing for our server to, all variables are 0.
