You get two unlocks per rank up that gives you unlock (http://ubar.bf2s.com)
You can use those unlocks just as you want, you dont have to pick specific unlocks. The only thing you can't do, is to get a SF-unlock for say antitank, before you pick the vanilla unlock for antitank. You need to do it progressive, taking the first unlock in each class before the second. Vanilla unlocks are the first one in each class, and the SF unlocks are second.
