    Main Menu problem...

I have a weird problem... I have the Battlefield 2 demo, and whenever I start up the demo, the menu is not cooperative at all. The main menu does not appear (the screen is black, sometimes the cursor is visible), and then my monitor sounds like it is refreshing itself, and then the menu does appear (but nothing can be clicked on). I was able to "navigate" the main menu once, after about 20 minutes, and start a single-player game, and it ran flawlessly... Why is it harder for the game to run the main menu than the actual game?

    My computer specs...

    -Intel Pentinum 4
    -512 RAM
-ATi RADEON 9250 (PCI, not express, I can't update it because they no longer make PCI cards and I only have a PCI slot ), Direct-X 9.0

    Please help!
    Thanks.

There was a lot of problems with the main menu in the demo and first release of the game.

I suggest you reinstall the demo... Also like Tonic said, make sure you download it from a reliable source.

Bf2 is a very hard game to run for your computer. Your ATI 9250 is a very bad card (no offense), and probably struggles very hard to keep up. Even the menu can be hard to get up for such a card, as there is video running in the background together with things like animated cursors and so on.

If its not a hardware problem, try downloading the demo again. Or go buy the full game, and perhaps even a new computer?

I know my card is bad, and I can't upgrade... nor am I ready to invest in a new computer :|:

I'll try everything suggested, such as downloading from a different source or maybe even purchasing the game... I downloaded the demo simply because I was bored and wanted to play the game, so I just downloaded the demo.

          Thanks.

i would first make sure the demo will work on ur computer before going out and spending 50 dollars that might not work on ur computer also i had problems runing BFV on a PCI graphics card when it first came out. also there is a list of what cards will work with bf2 might want to see if urs is on it. one other thing make sure u have up to date drivers for ur graphics card

That's why I downloaded it... I'm not convinced it won't work on my computer because of the time I actually spent playing it.

I looked at the system requirements and I technically met all of them, for graphics cards it said: "ATi 8500 and above."

Oh yeah..and I'm sure his PCI ATI 9250 card will handle GRAW better

I'd suggest that you try updating your motherboard drivers.

If that doesn't work, then try deleting the contents of:
                    c:\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents\Battlefield 2\

This will delete all settings though, so be prepared to manually retrieve your account (make sure you remember your username and pass).

How do I update my motherboard drivers? And what would deleting the contents of c:\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents\Battlefield2\ do? Sorry for all of the noob-ish questions, but all of the help is very appreciated :)

                      Thanks, again.
