What resolution?

`What Resolution should i be able to play BF2 whit? On Windows Desktop I have 1280x1024@75Hz, but when I adjust to that resolution in BF2 my Screen a TFT screen 17tum goes black whit a text saying "Out of range" and then "Power saving mode" Sow I have to toggle out to desktop and shut down BF2. The highest resolution I can run BF2 on is 1280x980@60Hz.

1. Why does this problem appear?
2. What does Out of range mean?
3. Is it a big differens betwin 1280x1024 and 1280x980?

Im shore that I had everything on highest setting before all the patches appeard. Now I have everything on highest setting except resolution.

Please help me!!!

Your monitor should have an optimum setting for it that it was made to use.

What monitor are you using (brand and model)?

Indeed, find out what your monitor's native reseloution is. If it is 19" then it is most likely 1024x1280. Set your windows reseloution to that and see if it helps.

U might need to install new drivers, get the latest ones from...

So ur saying ur native resolution is 1280x1024 but u prefer to play on 800x600, Y would you do this? If u think it will give u better FPS, think again.

This will only happen on CRT monitors. LCD monitors is a whole new stoy.

My desktop resolution is 1024x768, I run it on 800x600 to keep the framerate over 10 fps.

All settings on low except effects and geometry on medium btw.

My specs are following:
CPU: AMD 3800+
GPU: Nvidia Geforece 6800GT
SPU: Soundblaster X-fi Platinum
Ram: 2gig
Monitor: Packard Bell 17tum 16ms.

I have tested to download the latest Nvidia drive, but I aint shore if I dare to change resolution, cause of it gets to high and the monitor goes black Ill have to reinstall BF2, X-backs, B-back, Patches and mods, and I have allready done that twice. So anyone who knows a way to change back to the old resolution whitout entering BF2?

1. Why does this problem appear?
My guess is that the refresh rate is manually set in the nvidia control panel. If so, the PC is trying to force a refresh rate on the game it doesn't want. Either way, it has to do with the LCD display and not your vid card (card settings perhaps, but the card is fine).

2. What does Out of range mean?
It means that the game is trying to force a resolution or refresh rate higher than the monitor can handle. To resolve, try running the game at 60Htz instead of 75.

3. Is it a big differens betwin 1280x1024 and 1280x980?
The visual quality difference is zero. The 980 verticle resolution is primarily for wide screen format but many LCD's use it even without wide screen effects with no problems.

You can modify the resolution in the video.con file in the "My Documents\Battlefield 2\profile" folder. The global.con file in this directory will tell you what your player profile is (I think a single player added will be 0002).

In the video.con file (there is one in each profile subdir), edit the VideoSettings.setResolution line. Here is the what mine is set for:
