Logic and EA and gameplay in v1.30...

I feel like say few my words about 1.30 patch.

    [Yezus]Mishahsim -
but i dont like the new thing about squads... you cant join squads if you are dead :-(

   Isn't it logical?
Yes, it is. More real, if you prefer. However the game is about anything but real, so - you can forget both logic AND real and concentrate on gameplay. And gameplay will be hurt by this.
Since you can't spawn in action, you will spend much more time transporting/looking and waiting for vehicle that playing. And this is BAD.

So, stop arguing about logic in BF2 - it is not logical, according to BF2, that your ride catch fire and explode as soon, as you abandon it for few minute or two? It is?
It is not. So, apply same logic for the squads. It is not logical that EA/DICE is trying to kill gameplay, and game is all about gameplay.

The vehicles is, OTOH, more debatable. One could say that this exploding vehicles thig make the gameplay better, because players will not get stuck w/o ride, when these rides do explode and respawn soon.

But on the other hand, it also kill the gameplay, because one often use light vehicles as fire base to lay fire on enemy soldiers. Another thing is, that I like to switch between stingers and jeep machine gun. And another thing is strategic value of these vehicles. Now it did not make sense stealing the enemy vehicles - they destroy themselves too soon. That hurt gameplay, if you ask me... Same thing is that good players did not destroy the enemy jeeps/light vehicles, when they managed to kill the enemy - either inside them, or when the enemy jumped off them. The reason? Well, not only conserving ammo (mostly not a problem in heli, plane, tank, APC, AA...) but mainly giving our team the strategic advantage - because the other team will lack the vehicles then and forced to move on foot - very slow and volunerable.

Of course on public server you can't except such logic in play from public players, but in CW I would like to see this strategy in action. Now, thanks to even faster "auto-destruct" vehicles, it is not usefull anymore.

    Thanks, EA/DICE!

Just like to say something here - You can't switch squads repeatedly as they want you to stay in one, work together as one unit in a team comprised of such units rather than people jumping from action spawn to action spawn. If its such a problem hoof it, you're bound to come across people out there or maybe ask the commander for a vehicle drop.

I see your point and i slightly disagree on some of the points you made...

I think the option to request for an airdropped vehicle balances this one out quite nicely. Also, defending bases is important.. This is a bit off topic but i have found that if u dont have a vehicle to go around, it might just be a good idea to hang around the base for a while to guard it

Also last night i played 1.3 for the first time (for 5 hours :) ) and i found it much more exciting now that u really had to stay alive when playing as a Squad leader ( i found my self rushing around much less and ended up with a much better K/D than usual. The game felt more tactical and much less of a "no-brainer". Squads where the members are able to keep eachother and especially their SL alive are worth alot now.

I don't quite get this one. If someone uses a dropped vehicle to lay fire on enemies it's a tactical move and it was used on me too yesterday.. the thing is u can do it to them too. If they could drop tanks from the sky then maybe that would be an unbalancing gameplay killer but an extra hummvee when u need it the most is just a nice booster (that can be destroyed with one SRAW) that can save your neck if used wisely.

I never considered stealing a transport car an action that has much effect on the rounds end results. I'd rather give them the transport and then kill the 3 or so guys inside after which they cant even be revived. It's like playing paper scissors stone .

Like i said i see your point. I don't disagree to everything u say but i just pointed out the flipsides of some of the things u said.. Too bad if the game feels worse to u now .. I'm very happy with 1.3 except for the ingame browser.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it difficult to join a squad at a "normal" cappable CP when I join in the middle of the game. By the time I get the squad screen up and am trying to choose what open squad to join, I'm spawn killed by a tank/apc/jet.

And then once I find a squad and finally join it, the SL ends up hopping into a one seater jet or sits around at an uncappable base- making me have to switch squads yet again- only to be spawn killed before being able to join another squad.

No matter what reasoning people give about how this is a great idea for teamwork, I'm going to have to disagree. The majority of people playing on public servers as SL's don't know how to play the role well, leaving us squad mates high and dry. Most of them are just as eager to earn points in a round as the common soldier making the game slower than it used to be. Even after using VOIP or chat text, SL's rarely take to heart a squad's pleas to stay hidden so that we can spawn on him.

What happen to the ingame browser?
I did not yet updated, so, I want to know if I should. There is ATM not enought 1.30 servers around me, so...

Af the the rest of the points - well, to put it short - commander mostly ignore the airdroped vehicle requests (other things to do, limits or just being lame) so my rant stays strong.
As for killing the humwee with one SRAW - hell yea, however I mostly spawn as attacker or medic or engineer or support... and none of them have the ONE need SRAW, witch is why the vehicle is important and give me many times many kills. And if they want get rid of me in it, they have to spawn as AA guys. And AA guys have weak main bullets weapon(s), so it still give my team advantage, even if they took me out
The point it - vehicles that destroy themselves put the gameplay off.

But hey, The Soup Nazi write it very exactly how it looks now on the normal public server :hmm:
