1.3 Multiplayer Lag Fix*

Much like many of you, I had the same problem after installing 1.3...a choppy, laggy, multiplayer game experience. I had no clue why this would happen...My other computer also has 1.3, but no lag problems whatsoever...in fact, the game ran better after the patch. Well, after spending much of today trying to get this computer up and running again, i fixed it...and MAYBE could be the solution for your problems too.

I have Mcafee firewall running...and ever since i first installed BF2, i have had the firewall set to allow this program. So, I removed the BF2 from the allowed programs list to reset it in the firewall. Next time I opened BF2, it asked for me to allow this program...I clicked YES, and voila...no more lag problems. Now, I don't know why this fixed it, but it did...perhaps they changed some coding so when the firewall went to read tollerances, it misread and I DONT KNOW.

So, try resetting your firewall allowance for BF2...see if it works for you...worked for me!

I don't use firewalls..but sure, it COULD help.

One of the first things I get people to do if they are having issues is to turn OFF their firewall, so yeah.

I use ZoneAlarm and before I run BF2 I shut ZoneAlarm off completely. So I have no firewall. And I have major lag. So bad, that I cant play.

Never had this problem before 1.3.
