Possible Reason for Lowering Award Criteria

    Hey guys,
I am sure as you all know the award criteria has been reduced for quite a number of awards. Dice/EA would not do this for a reason, and i have a strong feeling that the reason why was to make players feel like they 'accomplished' something from BF2 before releasing BF 2142.

It works perfectly from a marketing stand point, because now with more players having awards from bf2 they are more likely to move on and get BF 2142 and feel happier about playing becasue BF2 wasnt such a waste of money and short lived.

What are your views on this?

    Cheers

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. There were a few dubious things like the War College 3:1 ratio. And the easier knife / pistol badges may genuinely have been to get rid of stats padders. But the decreased / removed time requirements say it all.

                LMAO.

                So true...so true...

There are frequent posters on this forum with over 500 hours and STILL bitch about not being 'content' with their product. They DEMAND that EA fix the product that THEY paid for.

"I'm not playing another minute of BF2!!!!!"
                "I'm not buying BF2142!!!"
"I'm never going to buy another EA game!!"

                Yeah...

                Right.

500+ hours and your not content?

                Something doesn't add up.

I honestly think it's to thwart stat padding, aside from the coming of bf2142. I think if you make the awards slightly "easier" then people will be less likely to stat pad (knife/pistol servers for example).

Lowering the awards criteria for me is a desperate attempt to still keep many player that feel betrayed and disgusted with numerous behaviors that they are exposed to on daily basis while trying to do something that's supposed to be enjoyment.

Blah people dont play on them to get mostly badges. People get close to 350-1000 scores in a round. Thats why they like to play them. It wont stop the padding. Only way to stop it is to guid ban them.

On topic, the stat system is lame, if you play for awards/stats anyways.I only like to see combat stats.Oh well, time to move to mods.
Also the knife badge is way to easy now. ****es me off that all those rounds to get mine, and they come up with 100 global kills FFS. Just lame, I guess cause it made my k/d ration like crap for the longest time.

Re: Possible Reason for Lowering Award Criteria

Well I do play to get rewarded with promotions, badges etc because it's a nice reward for me. I do believe they lowered the requirement too much though, some expert badges are a damn joke now (helo, ground defense, air defense, etc etc). Oh well.

As for the knife badge nerf, I don't care because I know I'm proficient with a knife and got mine with 20 kills iar, it was fun and knifing people will continue to be fun .

I bet it was also partially because some of the general ranks require a buch vehicle badges, and getting 150-400 hours in all of the vehicles would certainly require more time than getiing the points for the general rank

to a degree you are correct i think, EA/DICE are very much aware of the stat padder crew and they have further enforced restrictions on server settings. (i run a ranked server)

I think the thing about the awards was, once you hit 20k there was a big void to the next rank and i had earnt a lot of badges during my general game play. now for me to chase the remaining badges or improve the badges i have i would have had to cease general game play and just target on getting those other badges, something i wasnt going to bother to do. but now the requirements have been adjusted i stand a good chance of earning those awards just by my general game play. this makes me happier :)

They should have thought about the award criteria more carefully in the 1st place. Changing the requirements has made them (more) meaningless. Most are still silly, like expert medic you can get it by tank/jet whoring - whats that to do with being an expert medic.
Still on the whole the awards have kept players playing for longer than they might have if they wern't there and any game needs populated servers to survive.
