Because the guys at dice cannot keep track of all the chevrons and rockers (heck, I couldn't either in the Navy)...only the air-force ranks are harder to interpret at a distance!

ok i dont kno much about the army...but i watched band of brothers and lipton who was a 1st sergeant got bumped up to 2nd lt after getting a battlefield commendation, so i guess they just skip those WO ranks..and wat ive seen in other clans is that pilots take the ranks of WOs

You forgot First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major...

I dont really like the ranking method EA used; and adding the warrant officer ranks in like that would make it worse...

They should have 3 seperate echolons, enlisted - warrant - officer...

Start the game as a private, but get rid of that crappy insignia...

Then when you reach Private First Class and meet the reqs [badges - ribbons] and choose to become an officer you go for that...

It would be nice to use the Infantry Officer Ribbon as a req for 2nd Lt and the Staff Officer Ribbon with Captain grade as req for Major...

And lets say you get locked off from it if you reach Master/First Sergeant...

Then since this is a combat oriented game when you reach Gunnery Sergeant if you meet the reqs for warrant you can choose to do so...

Again locked off if you go for the FirstSergeant/SergeantMajor track, but available if you are Master/MasterGunnerySergeant...

Then enlisted which of course you start in and can stay in if you like the prestige of being a senior command nco [FirstSergeant/SergeantMajor] or just cant cut it...

Reqs again would be badges or ribbons for FirstSergeant/SergeantMajor, and for SergeantMajor must have been a FirstSergeant...

Yes complicated but fun - for me atleast... :)

And no whatsoever time reqs unless you wanna get more complicated and the ability to lock a rank and not advance if you like being that "special" rank...

In BoB, that was during war time and we had lots of casualties and "job openings"...

They dont do that now and might not in the future unless we hit anuther casualtie crisis...

And it was a battlefield commission...

And that was the Army - at that time they only had 2 Warrant grades - 1 and 2...

And in the USMC they dont have a specific pilot warrant officer program...

You have technical warrants and weapons warrants or "gunners"...

The game is not a real-life simulation - only an approximation. So the ranks are an approximation of the USMC rankings.

Its not real!? But Iv been reporting for duty every morning and only have been eating MREs!

I think most people know its just a game and that the technical realisim will reflect the knowledgable apptitude of the developers...

I still dislike the approximation; and adding the warrant ranks in that way as discribed in the 1st post in this thread would make it worse...
