Server Start-up Swap!!

Okay... I saw this discussion (here) about someone who wanted advice on how to get their server going.

I am also trying to get our server going nightly.

What I propose is this:
All people who are running ranked servers who want to try and get theirs going, please post here. I think each of us can visit each other's servers and get them rolling every night. If we get a large enough group together, this could only require that we visit one or two servers other than our own before we finally can settle in and play at our own server.

The best way to coordinate this would be through a VOIP program, like Ventrilo or Teamspeak where we could meet up and "draw straws" to see where we go first. If turnout is good enough, we could split up to start others servers.

Could you guys please post additional suggestions as well as your server information if you are trying to get yours started. If don't need help and have no problem starting your server, we could use your help anyway by helping those of us who NEED the help.:)

TS sounds okay, but I usually can't get on until after 9:30pm CST. Someone could email me with a server to go to, or I could log into TS when I'm online. I've got a 14 month old I have to get to sleep before daddy can play.

Believe me, as a father of two boys, I can definitely understand!! For me, it's after 8pm. :-]

I'll be compiling a list of volunteers and after we get enough of a response, I'll contact each of you. Why don't you PM me with in-game name, email, xfire, etc. and I'll contact you soon.

Me and at least 1 other person would be willing to help out as we need help filling our ranked 32 slot. We have a 50 slot ventrilo server that can be used to coordinate this.

Anytime is good for us. We are almost always in ventrilo.

If your server has a high ping then that might be why people aren't on it.

With 1.30, even popular servers are having problems because of all the restarts.

Personally, if you just put "24/7" anything most likely it'll get full. Or if you put types of maps, "plane or infantry" type maps.

Make sure whatever rules you have are plain in the description. Knowing that main base raping is OK or not, in addition to the in-game BF2cc messages, is good.

Do not say, "rules on the website"...or better yet "rules on the website and NOT give a website"...


As long as your admins aren't complete asses you shouldn't have a problem getting your server populated.

With the newest booster pack, some servers will be switching over to it so you may have more people.

What you're doing with the advertisement of your server on your sig is good.

Have you been in the Server Owners section of the forum. There are some good tips in there from established servers..

I couldn't make a commitment because currently we already do this for our host. www.seemeplayme.com They have a catalyst setup they call it where you ask for help starting a server up and we come in on mass to get it started so we are pretty busy with that atm.
